The only thing I look forward to about coming home from school is being able to enjoy New England in the summer. It's a unique place filled with beach towns, Cape Cod islands and fresh caught seafood. The lifestyle is something only people from this small part of the country can understand and if you're from the states that make up New England you've definitely had these thoughts during the summer.
1. When is summer actually going to start?
Is it seriously 50 degrees in June...?!
2. Cape traffic sucks
Everyone knows that Cape Cod traffic is the worst. But even if it takes twice the time it should to get there it's always worth it.
3. The Vineyard is always a good idea
Martha's Vineyard is the best place for a day trip or vacation spot. Trips to the Vineyard always include jumping off the Jaws bridge, Backdoor Donuts and water front restaurants in Edgartown.
4. Where did all these tourists come from?
We escape from the harsh temperatures during the winters and invade other places, but often forget that they come to us in the summer. Hearing y'all or a foreign language always takes us off guard in our small beach towns.
5. Where's the nearest lobster roll?
Because when we're hungry what else would we eat?
6. I'm craving Del's
Let's take a moment of silence for Del's lemonade. A magical lemonade place only located in Rhode Island makes for a perfect frozen drink after a long day at the beach.
7. Saturday nights are for Fenway
Saturday home games at Fenway are a summer staple. Where else can you chant Sweet Caroline and eat a Fenway Frank? I LOVE THAT DIRTY WATER OH BOSTON YOU'RE MY HOME
8. Golden retrievers...EVERYWHERE
Let me be clear, this is not a complaint. These golden fur babies might as well be the poster dog for New England and they love the beach as much as we do.
9. Yes, our beach is the same as Taylor Swift's
Tourists from all over come to see Taylor Swift's gorgeous beach house in Westerly, Rhode Island, but to us, it's just Watch Hill. No, I don't have a picture in front of her house.
10. There's no place like New England in the summer
If you're from Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut or Rhode Island you definitely understand why we're lucky to call this place home. You understand the food, weather and New England specific activities that we couldn't imagine our summer without. We are proud to call this gorgeous place home and wouldn't want to spend our time away from school anywhere else.
