Your dog is definitely part of your family, and since he/she sadly never seems to hear you over the phone no matter how loudly or obnoxiously you call their name, you're always relieved to get back to see them. But now that spring break is over, here are the 11 things you'll miss about your [low key] best friend.
1. Singing to your dog with unbridled enthusiasm.
Which your roommate doesn’t tolerate for quite as long.
2. Waking up when the dogs pounce on you.
Now it’s just the soulless sound of your phone alarm and the general dread of the upcoming 9 a.m.
3. Having them greet you when you get back from a long day.
At least someone loves me!
4. Talking to them.
They’re really good listeners, and they never say the wrong thing.
5. Using them as a heating pad/footrest/pillow.
So much warmer than your dorm room in the winter.
6. Dancing with them.
This is mostly you holding them and swinging them around, but you can pretend that they're dancing along.
7. Not having to pick up food when you drop it on the floor.
Since they’ll inevitably eat it anyway.
8. Running around and chasing them.
Because tag is markedly less fun with human beings.
9. Having the assurance that at least you’re not the worst smelling one around.
(Our standards go down significantly in college. Who has time for a shower when it’s in the middle of finals week?)
10. Absentmindedly petting your dog as he/she sits against you.
My roommate wasn’t down with this, either.
11. Forcing your love upon them and hugging them and kissing them vigorously.
Because you love them more than anything else (besides maybe your family, of course), and they tolerate you so well.
