There is definitely something defining about the childhood of a girl surrounded by her brothers. Living with all of this testosterone certainly teaches you a thing or two--but as troubling as it may be day-to-day, you have picked up on a few "valuable" lessons alongside these wonderful gentlemen over the years. Here's just to name a few:
1. When it comes to the TV, ESPN always takes precedence.
2. You always end up the butt of their jokes.
3. And because of that, it takes a lot to get you frazzled ... you've had some practice in protecting your ego.
4. Keeping a secret is key ... the world will know if they catch wind that you're hiding something.
5. "Privacy" isn't really a thing (keeping your bedroom door closed does not prevent them from barging right in to annoy you).
6. You learn some basic self-defense, just in case you end up in the middle of their wrestling matches.
7. You find almost all bodily noise jokes funny (as hard as you try to pretend you don't).
8. You have played your fair share of COD or NFL 2k16 ... and aren't the least bit ashamed about it.
9. Your voice level tends to be a lot louder than most (you had to get your two sense in growing up somehow).
10. Any boy you bring home is doomed... just doomed.
11. Your only ally in the house is your mom.
12. The concept of a "shared closet" still applies, even without a sister... who needs a boyfriend for oversized sweatshirts when you have your brother's closet to dig through!
13. You find that most of your guy friends consider you to be "one of the boys"... it's just what you're used to.
15. You actually enjoy sports. You aren't just pretending to be excited about Sunday Night Football (and your over enthusiasm for your home team isn't fake either).
16. They had their moments growing up, like when you were their #tbt shout out, or they swore they would beat up whoever broke your heart.
17. And finally, they would deny it to the grave, but they would do anything to protect you, and as much of a pain they were growing up, it was all their way of showing just how much they love you.
