The South is full of beautiful places, but none of them beat Savannah, Georgia. Savannah is one of the greatest jewels South of the Mason-Dixon Line. It has been the home of many musicians, poets, and people who have changed America. It is a city that anyone can fall in love with. There is inspiration, peace, and many great memories can be made here. Everyone should visit Savannah at least once here, but those who are able to live here are truly blessed.

1. AJ's Dockside is the best way to end a perfect beach day

AJ's Dockside is one of the many hidden treasures in the Savannah-Chatham area. Located on the Back River, AJ's is the best place to go eat after a long day on the beach. It has an amazing atmosphere and awesome food. Calories don't count here, they are just delicious.

2. St. Patrick's Day is bigger than Christmas

Everyone in Savannah knows that Downtown is the place to be on St. Patrick's Day. The girls run up and kiss the BC boys while the college girls kiss the military guys. The Keystone Cops give out fake tickets and the real cops are out looking for the people who are too drunk to function. Beads, food, music, and the parade....it's basically one huge party.

3. 6 o'clock traffic is sent from Satan

I love Savannah, but one of the things I don't miss is the traffic. After 6, there is no point in even driving anywhere. Savannah is full of people and everyone usually gets off around the same time. Don't even try to be home in a hurry because you will at least be on I-16 or Tybee Road for an hour minimum. During the Summer, it is even harder to get anywhere. People are out of school and on vacation and they want to go to the beach. I guess they don't realize that there are other islands other than Tybee.

4. Spring and Summer concerts in Forsyth Park are always a good idea

Forsyth Park is not only beautiful, but it is also home to some great, free concerts. There is the annual Jazz Festival. Local bands also play here frequently. During the Spring and Summer, you can find people with their guitars playing and having picnics. These concerts are a time to let loose and just have fun.

5. River Street Sweets is the best place to get candy..specifically pralines

Taffy and pralines. Two of the greatest things that come out of this Savannah famous candy shop. Forget everything else, just go straight for the pralines or taffy. They make them fresh daily and you can get free samples. Who doesn't like free candy? But if you aren't into it, then there are other delicious options.

6. You probably went to private school

Calvary, Savannah Christian, Country Day, Memorial, Bible Baptist, BC, and Saint Vincent's. If you are growing up in Savannah, you probably go to one of these schools. Everyday you wake up and put on your plaid skirt or your khakis and go off to school. Chapel is a weekly thing and if you don't go it's detention. The schools are small enough that you are able to have a close bond with those around you.

7. SCAD has given us some great things

Over the past few years the Savannah College of Art and Design has grown rapidly. From Bobby's Diner to the Sidewalk Arts Festival, SCAD has given us some great things. SCAD has become a Savannah icon. They have brought us museums, the Trustees Theatre, and festivals of all kinds. They have made Savannah a happier place with all of their creativity.

8. The weather is more bipolar than your ex

Savannah doesn't have four seasons. There isn't even a word to describe Savannah weather other than bipolar. In June and July, yes it is hot. In December and the first half of January, yes it is cold, but last year I was wearing shorts in February. One minute it is raining and the next it is not. It gets very frustrating because you have no idea what to wear. Wear jackets in the morning and tank tops in the afternoon.

9. Tourists can be hilarious

Nothing is better than watching the tourists on the buses. While walking downtown you pass these busses telling stories about historic Savannah. Some of them are true, but others are not so true. Not saying that they are all lies, but they can be slightly exaggerated. It can be fun to yell "It's not true" as the tour busses pass by, even though it is a jerk move.

10. Savannah has the prettiest sky you will ever see

Would you just look at that view? One of the best thing about living in Savannah, is being able to see a gorgeous sunset on your way home from work, rehearsal, or practice. It is a view that never goes old and it is always unique.

11. No matter where you go Savannah is home

While growing up is Savannah can seem like torture, leaving it is just as bad. Memories were made here. Friendships grew and new ones were formed. This beautiful city is an inspiration to all. So much can be learned here. I know that I would not be the same if I had lived somewhere else.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours.
