I love my dog. Since moving to college in August, I have found myself talking about my dog all the time. Friends and I have bonded over love of dogs, told stories about our dogs, and "awww"ed at dogs we see out and about. It's hard to be away from her, but I know my dog will always be there wagging her tail when I come home, and waiting for me to pet her nonstop. Dogs are the greatest, so here's to everyone who knows the struggles of being away from their furry friends while at college. Here are some things you know to be too true:
1. You miss your dog.
Obviously.
2. You miss your friends' dogs
Spending a significant amount of time at another person's house means spending a significant amount of time with their dog as well.
3. You pet strangers' dogs (with permission, of course)
True, you did that before you moved, but now the event holds more importance. You just don't get to pet a dog as often as you used to.
4. Every time you see a dog, it makes your day
"Awww, look at him! What a good dog."
5. Every time you see a dog wagging its tail, you share in its happiness
"Oh my goodness, look at what a happy dog he is. Such a good dog"
6. Dog videos on the internet hold more importance than ever before
Because, let's be real, they've always been very important.
7. You make your family send you pictures of your dog all the time
Bad day? Dog picture. Great day? Dog picture. Somewhere in between? Dog picture.
8. You and your friends talk about your dogs all the time
And it's wonderful.
9. The first thing you do when you go home is pet your dog
Being reunited is the best.
10. The second thing you do when you go home is walk your dog (with family members too, if they so choose)
If it's not the second thing, it's pretty close to it. And it is such a good feeling!
11. You are sure to tell your dog that you love her a lot
And that you'll be back again in a little while!
