11 Things You Didn't Know About Sriracha
The Worlds Best Ever

With the rise in popularity of Sriracha across the United States and the entire world, I found it appropriate to enlighten you on this wonderful condiment. Pizza Hut, Jack in the Box, White Castle and Subway have all joined the bandwagon so it's about time you hop on yourself. Without further ado, here are 11 things you didn’t know about Sriracha.

1. Not only is it hot sauce from heaven, it's also a place.

Sri Racha is a village in Thailand, where the sauce was created by Thanom Chakkapak over 80 years ago.

2. Huy Fong Food's Sriracha, the most common in the US, is one of many brands of the hot sauce.

There is a whole line of sauces that many do not know exist that pack the same punch as Sriracha.

3. Huy Fong Foods has never advertised their sauce.

Although sales growth increases by double digits every year, the company has never produced any advertisements.

4. The name Huy Fong comes from the ship David Tran, the founder, came on from Vietnam in.

I wonder if he knows he spelled it wrong.

5. The signature rooster logo represents a Chinese zodiac year.

David Tran was born on the year of the rooster.

6. A ton is produced every hour.

Literally over 2,000 pounds of Sriracha is produced at Huy Fong every hour. TWO THOUSAND POUNDS OF HOT SAUCE! That's almost two moose.

7. There is a documentary about it.

1,315 people donated a total of 21,009 dollars to create the documentary short. You know there's a strong fan base, when they raise over twenty grand to create a thirty-four-minute documentary.

8. A Sriracha bottle is now a viable Halloween costume.

Only 192 more days. Or if you can wait, wear it anytime I don't judge.

9. Sriracha is not as hot as Tabasco sauce.

According to the Scoville Heat Scale, Tabasco is around 2,500 SHU and Sriracha is only 2,200 SHU. They may have 300 more SHUs but there's a chicken on our bottle. Take that Tabasco!

10. There are key-chain sriracha bottles.

I got hot sauce in my bag. Swag.

11. It's good on everything.

Although you may think this is an opinion, you are wrong, it's a fact. Dave Tran himself said, “Everything tastes better with Sriracha. I put on everything and eat it everyday.”

There you have it. If you didn’t love Sriracha before reading this, I hope these enlightening facts will encourage you to jump on to Sriracha wagon and discover what all the hubbub is about.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
