Most people didn't do too much.

11 Things That You Could Have Done On 4/20

Everyone in college knows that kid down the hall who loves Bob Marley a little too much and gets way too excited about April 20th. When 4/20 finally comes around, you realize that many more kids than just the Marley lovers want to enjoy the so-called holiday of 4/20. You see numerous drug rugs on campus and you wonder how many people actually partake in this day. You also realize that there's hardly anyone actually attending class and even SnapChat has a filter for 4/20. Here's a list of things that you could have been doing on 4/20, as a lot of people didn't do much of anything that day except nap and eat.

1. You could have cleaned your room.

There's never a bad time to clean your room. It's college and things are always messy.

2. You could have gone to the library.

At this point of the semester, there are countless assignments due, including research papers, presentations, and typical homework. Sometimes, you question if there's enough time to do everything that needs to be done. That's not to mention that exams are coming up. The library becomes a second home at this time of the year.

3. You could have watched the rainbow sponge video.

Generally, no one likes infomercials, but this one is truly life changing. If you have never seen this, I highly suggest that you do. While you watch this, make sure that you have tissues because you'll be laughing until you cry. Seriously, check it out.

4. You could have gone to class.

This is literally the most obvious thing that anyone could have done. Students are paying thousands of dollars per semester to go to school. Go to class because it costs a fortune. My personal experience of going to class on 4/20 was earning extra credit points in class because there was such a lack of attendance.

5. You could have gone grocery shopping.

One of the worst things about being in college is grocery shopping. Even if you know how to cook, which some people don't know how to, you don't know what to buy. This results in not having much food in your apartment or dorm and spending way too much money on fast food, as well as gaining 15 pounds. Grocery shopping is necessary. Buy some frozen meals and save some money. If you get really enthusiastic about grocery shopping, pick up a cookbook and learn how to make something that would impress your parents.

6. You could have watched most of the "Harry Potter" movies.

This one is pretty self-explanatory.

7. You could have donated your plasma.

Donating plasma is a very stereotypical college thing to do, but it benefits other people, so why not try it out?

8. You could have applied for a job.

Everyone in college is spending money that they don't have. Instead of complaining about being poor, try solving the issue.

9. You could have done your laundry.

Doing laundry is something that everyone has to do, whether you want to do it or not.

10. You could have read a book.

Reading is such a relaxing thing to do and if you don't do it, I feel bad for you.

11. You could have applied to The Odyssey.

One of the best things that I have done since I started college is write for The Odyssey. Writing is something that I love to do and being able to share my work through such a great format is incredible.

So, all of the things that I listed are pointless, something that you can do every day, or both. I'm the last person you should be taking life advice from, I just wanted to write something that's not glorifying April 20th.

The library. Club lib. The place every college student goes when they want to try and be a productive member of society. Who better to explain your experience than Parks and Rec?

1. When you've finally found the energy to leave your dorm room and walk into the lib like

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
