"Will and Grace" is an iconic TV show from the late 90s and ran until 2006. It was recently revived in 2017, and I personally could not be more grateful. I have watched the show, off and on, for a handful of years when the reruns would come on, but I never understood it. It was just a show that was kind of funny and was on.
It wasn't until they announced the revival that I decided to binge the entire series, because that is what my generation does. My only regret is not watching the whole series sooner. I realized that "Will and Grace" are the "role models," one might say, of true friendship and how to have a fun life.
Here are 11 things Will, Grace, Karen and Jack taught me about life:
1. Sometimes, creativity is the only way to survive a long day.
Work can seem like it lasts forever, so why not eat a doughnut on a pencil? Provides a challenge of not dropping the donut and not getting your hands dirty when you're handling important papers.
2. The world is a confusing place.
The real world can be a confusing place. Remind me again why there is no instruction manual?
3. Dating can be a real tear-jerker.
With all the dating apps that are out there, they really can take a hit on your self-esteem.
4. When someone is rude to you, just shake it off.
Drama from people who barely hold a small candle in your future are not worth the issues they throw at you.
5. Honesty is the best policy.
If you are not honest with yourself, you can not be honest with anyone else.
6. Healthy coping skills are super important.
Stress eating and sad eating are in no one's best interest.
7. Knowing how to shut down naysayers is also super important.
8. Labels do not define you.
Be you and be proud!
9. Life is short, so be spontaneous
If this means random dance parties in your apartment, do it.
10. Staying angry doesn't match you.
Let things roll off of you because half of the time it is not as important as you think it is.
11. Friends are the most important thing you have.
Without them, you would not be where you are today. Cherish them.
