Skyrim. The gaming world went crazy over the release of the game back in 2011, nearly five years ago. It was an immerse game with an insane backdrop, storyline, and characters. To this day, Steam still has it's rating as a 9/10. In this game, the player gets to become a hero known as the Dragonborn, someone with the blood and the soul of a dragon. After finding out their new identity, they are tasked with protecting all of Skyrim from the impending dragons- while taking on quite a few other missions such as the War, Thieves Guild, and even the Dark Brotherhood. Several add-ons have been released since the game but recently Bethesda announced a remastered version of the game so I thought it would be fun to look back on some of the habits we Dragonborns have accumulated.

1. We are always over-encumbered.

I think it's rare for me to not be close to my weight limit. Half the time I don't even know what I have in my inventory and it ends up being a bunch of useless things that I don't even need. This is a constant problem, especially if you're out in the middle of nowhere. Luckily if you've got a horse or Draught of Strength, you might be able to fast travel to one of the Holds to sell some of those useless things and lighten your load.

2. We steal useless items.

On the topic of carrying too much stuff, stealing tends to lead to such a problem. The main culprit is stealing thing that we don't need. I'm not sure if it's just to prove we can steal it or because we think we deserve it, but most of us players take random things that we'll never use. Do I need that bucket? Nope. Will I steal it? Yep.

3. We get distracted rather easily.

I cannot count the many times I have gotten distracted or completely off the course of whatever quest I set out to do that day. There are just so many things in Skyrim that you can't help but to wander off the course you're supposed to take. My most memorable distraction was when I was told to speak to the Jarl in Whiterun and somehow ended up in The Mind of a Madman.

4. Occasionally we kill a chicken to see the town freak out.

Yes, a chicken. Such a small creature in such a vast game and yet, I've never seen a town freak out so much. You'll immediately get a bounty and the entire town will attack you. Over. A. Chicken. It's quite comical.

5. Sometimes the setting itself is what distracts us so much.

There is no doubt in the world that this game is absolutely beautiful. The graphics are great and the detail that was put into making this world is absolutely insane. Sometimes I'll catch myself just staring because Skyrim looks so real and vivid and beautiful. From waterfalls, to mountains, and even the Northern Lights. There is some sight in this game that just takes your breath away.

6. None of us actually wear the helmet featured in the trailer.

Let's all be honest here. The iron helmet sucks. This helmet was featured in the official Skyrim trailer and has since become something tied directly to the Dragonborn and to the game. But I'll tell you this: No one uses it. There are far better helmets in the game or hoods or cowl that give you bonuses. The helmet serious is the worst.

7. No one goes around the mountain.

There's no bigger waste of time than going around a mountian to find a patch. Suck it up and climb that thing. Or use a horse to speed up that climb, since they apparently don't obey the laws of physics. But seriously. She won't be coming around the mountain. Ever.

8. There is nothing more annoying than a dragon showing up when you're in the middle of something. And it always happens to us.

Dragons have no consideration, absolutely none. There have been plenty of times when I've been running around trying to finish a quest and a dragon just swoops down out of no where and starts attacking me. It's especially bad when you're in a foul mood and don't feel like fighting. And, for some reason, the guards can never take care of it themselves. It's all on you.

9. We love glitches. Sometimes.

I love when I'm wandering around Skyrim and find some sort of glitch. Most of them time they are the funniest thing or just entertaining. While it does break the immersiveness of the game it certainly keeps a smile on our face and us entertained. But there are those glitches that kill a character you need, cause you to die for no reason, or make Shadowmere not appear- as has recently happened to me.

10. We all try to take on giants, full well knowing what will happen.

The giants in Skyrim are tough, but they can be killed. However many of us want to be killed by these creatures. If you get hit right then you go flying into the air and you'll burst into a fit of giggles. There are times I will do this repeatedly just to see my character fly.

11. We hold this game dear to our hearts.

Being a game that really pulls you into it's world, let's you interact with so many characters, and partake in many storylines, it is no wonder that Skyrim has such a high rating. It's not wonder that people are still constantly playing it even five years after it's release. Sure, most of the time we're goofing off in the game and not following the story but that doesn't matter. It's a new world for us to explore, one that can get us away from our very own.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
