Study sessions can get pretty boring, especially when you are having trouble focusing and are falling asleep. Here are just a few ways to make your late night study sessions just a little bit better.

1. Pepdew

Anything with caffeine will do the trick, but you might want to try a mixture of Pepsi and Mountain Dew if you want something new. If not, just make yourself your favorite kind of go-go juice to keep you wide awake.

2. Candy

Whatever your favorite candy is, make sure to have some on hand when you need a little sweetness in your life. It can be another pick-me-up when you feel like you're dragging through your work and when your feeling like you want to give up.

3. Laughter

Laughter makes everything better, so why not crack a few jokes with your friends?

4. Dance-out sessions

For those times when you have lost all motivation, just take a quick break, blast some music and dance it out. Even though it may contribute to just a little more procrastination, it will also get your blood flowing and wake you up a little too.

5. Try a new study spot

Maybe a change of scenery will help you focus just a little bit more. If you haven't tried the new coffee shop down the street yet, why not give it a try or maybe take a walk to a different building.

6. Stress Balls

Sometimes you just need to take your stress out on something, and stress balls are the perfect way to cope with it.

7. Comfy clothes

If you're going to be staying up for hours on end, you might as well be comfortable doing it. Why not just go put on your favorite pair of sweatpants?

8. Cold water

Even though it sounds so simple, a little cold water can wake you up even if it's just for a little while. Even though caffeine might keep you awake longer, if you're going for the healthier option, reach for the colder option.

9. Second Dinner

You've been up for this long, so it's time for another meal. Even though we shouldn't really be eating so much food so late at night, if you need to study, you need sustenance.

10. Study Groups

Talking it out always helps, especially when you can ask questions and not just stare at your notes. Whether you need help yourself or not, others might and you may just be the one person that knows how to explain it in just the right way for them to understand.

11. Friends

Studying with the people you feel most comfortable around can help boost your confidence as well help you feel more comfortable and less stressed while studying. If these friends are also in all of your classes, it helps to explain difficult concepts together in order to help you better understand them.

Even though we may not enjoy it, late night studying is sometimes necessary. Maybe the next time you find yourself staying up until the early morning hours, you'll try one or more of these things to make it just a little bit better.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
