Life: it’s fast paced and it’s not stopping for anyone. Life leaves us forgetting about what we already have by presenting us with all the new materialistic things that we instantly want. Most days leave us running around, balancing phone calls, school and a job, at the very least. We wake up, try to get as much stuff done as possible, and then before we know it it’s time to go to sleep.
We wake up, work out, eat, shower, go to work or class, do chores and eat dinner.
Even on the busiest days, it’s important to realize that you’re fortunate for the things that you have and that someone out there is wishing and praying for those things.
Here are a few things to be mindful of and thankful for as you go throughout your day.
1. Food
Because not everyone gets a meal every day like you do.
2. Water
Hot water is awesome, but many people don’t even have clean water, or any at all.
3. Clothing
Many people don’t have clothing to wear or the resources to get them. Be grateful for the clothing that you have.
4. Your bed
I’ve been to a third world country; we are very lucky to have any sort of bed.
5. A functional home
One that is made of sturdy materials and actually keeps you safe.
6. People who care about you
Because not everyone feels as loved as they should.
7. Your personal abilities
The ability to talk, hear, see, stand: many people are blind or have other impairments. Be grateful for the basic functions of your body.
8. Your health
So many people are fighting for their lives; be grateful when your body is feeling well.
9. Each day
Every day is a gift and not a given right. Anything can happen!
10. Any wealth that you do have
Even when we feel we have very little money, there is always someone out there with less than we have.
11. Education
We have the resources to become educated, and education is power. There are still developing countries without much of an education system and low literacy rates.
