11 Things That Happen When You've Been BFFs Since Birth

I've known my best friend since I was 18 months old. We met when our moms were trick-or-treating with us strapped into strollers, and we've been inseparable ever since. When you've been friends for as long as you can remember, there are certain things that only your Sister From Another Mister understands.

1. You're a part of her family.

You and your BFF have been through everything together. You were there when her sister pulled her hair, you were a shoulder to cry on when her grandmother passed away, and you've probably met her entire extended family. She's more than likely been there for you through all that too, and she still decided to stick around. You call each other's parents Mom and Dad, and you would't have it any other way.

2. No one understands your inside jokes.

Since you and your BFF are basically sisters, there are undoubtedly inside jokes and strange stories that no one understands except for you two. Maybe you made up your own language when you were eight. Maybe you made contracts for your parents to sign when you wanted to have a sleepover. Your hilarity is limitless, even if you and your BFF are the only ones who see it!

3. You literally dream about each other's families.

Since you've known each other (and each other's families) forever, they're a huge part of your life. They even make appearances in your dreams!

4. You know she'll never judge you.

The best part about knowing your BFF forever is that you know they're in too deep to judge you. They know all of your flaws, you know theirs, and you love each other because of them.

5. You fully embrace each other's weird.

Since she's stuck with you, you never feel like you have to pretend you're less weird than you really are. You're free to let your freak flag fly and totally be yourself. Because of that, you share some seriously strange and wonderful ideas and your texts are pages and pages of bizarre.

6. You know her better than you know yourself.

You know everything about each other. You know what she wanted to be when she grew up at age seven. You know each other's secrets, first crushes, deepest fears, and all of the mess in between.

7. You know each other's favorite (and least favorite) foods.

She knows how much you hate string beans, but also how much you love macaroni and cheese. You know how much your BFF loves ice cream but hates peas... and you remember that time when she ate a quart of ice cream in 30 minutes.

8. You make your life decisions based on each other's opinions.

You never make a big life decision without at least telling her first, and most of the time she's a big part of the decision process too. You also know that you'll be the first to know when something major happens in her life.

9. You've never had a big fight because you know it's not worth the drama.

You and your BFF have been through too much not to know what pushes one another's buttons, so you don't push 'em. You might have some spats but deep down you love each other too much to be apart for too long after a huge argument.

10. You stop seeing each other's flaws because at the end of the day, they don't matter. Your BFF is perfect in your eyes!

You and your BFF have seen each other at your most awkward. You've seen each other ugly cry. You lived through middle school together, for goodness sake. Any flaws that exist faded into the background ages ago, and now all that's at the forefront is how much you love her!

11. You're totally okay with not being in love... you've already found your Person.

You've both been through romantic ups and downs, but through it all, you know that you'll always be loved, because your BFF is the only bae you'll ever really need.

Cheers to all those life-long best friends out there. Give her a call and tell her how great she is. Because, let's be honest... your BFF is the real MVP.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
