Ok holiday babies... how repetitive do people's reactions start to become when you share your special birthday?
Here's what it's like for a New Years baby:
1. "Wow, New Years baby, were you the first of the year?"
Once you reply no, people seem somewhat disappointed, but still amazed. The reaction really isn't priceless, though.
2. "You were born on New Years, like New Years Day?"
Yes, that's what my birth certificate says. You were born on March 18th? Cool.
3. People try to make it like the world is celebrating for you when the ball drops.
That'd be awesome and all, but definitely not the reality of it.
4. It's just another day.
Just like your birthday is. Go have a slice of cake now.
5. If you're away from your family on NYE, and the clock strikes 12, its always an issue when they try to call you.
Every line on your coast is buzzing to bring in the New Year, but you're just as excited to get that birthday wish from your loved ones.
6. You feel pressured to do something extravagant every year.
You want your birthday to be celebrated, but you have to share it with the New Year celebration. Therefore, expectations can feel pretty high.
7. The pressure of high expectations makes you want to opt out of everything!
You just want to sit on your couch with your own party whistle and go to sleep once the clock strikes 12.
8. Everyone is mostly hungover on your birthday.
There's usually a few missing for birthday cake time.
9. You feel you have to put in extra effort for others to recognize it is your birthday, and not just New Years.
A post on Instagram, a post on Snapchat, one on twitter, another on Instagram...
10. You want the day to be all about you, as anyone does on their birthday.
Every year the struggle is real.
11. It still really is something nice to brag about.
Secretly, we'll always love your reaction.
Cheers to the New Year!
