11 Things That Bother Me About Pitch Perfect

I love the movie, but certain things just don't make sense.

Pitch Perfect is one of my all time favorite movies, but there are certain things about it that really bother me. From musical terms to seniority issues, here are the things that bother me about the movie.

1. "Match Pitch"

In the beginning, Bumper tells the treblemakers to "match pitch" but they harmonize instead. Do you even music?

2. Part Switching

In the shower, Beca starts on melody and Chloe starts on harmony. When they get to the chorus, they switch without any cues. How were they supposed to know to switch when they've never sung together before?

3. Since U Been Gone

During the auditions, everyone sang in the same key without being given a pitch. There's no way every single one of those people would've coincidentally started in the same key.

4. "Sing Ah"

The girls were expected to sing a major chord without being given a pitch. There's no way all those girls had perfect pitch, so they couldn't expect that out of them.

5. Sigma Beta Theta vs. The Riff Off

When the Bellas were singing at the SBT mixer, they sounded awful, even after rehearsing for a couple weeks. They didn't prepare for the riff off at all, and yet sounded great when they got there.

6. Treblemakers Regional Performance

Again with forgetting the starting pitch. The treblemakers didn't have one, but somehow they still started on the same pitch.

7. Party In The USA

On the bus to finals, Chloe starts singing Party in the USA and the rest of the Bellas join in, except for Beca. They pause until she joins, but Chloe still has her headphones in. They definitely wouldn't still be in time with the music and that would end up being very distracting.

8. Singing After Surgery

Chloe had her surgery over spring break and then was singing again the next week. You're definitely supposed to have recovery time after any surgery, and I'm sure that one would be no different.

9. No Warm Ups

Not a single group warmed up before a performance, they just went out and did it. Not only would that have destroyed their voices, they also would've sounded AWFUL because they wouldn't have been able high notes.

10. Continuity Errors

There are so many continuity errors, I don't even think I could name them all. The most noticeable would be during the Bellas finals performance. Throughout the performance, Aubrey's hair goes back and forth between being all up, all down, or halfway in between.

11. Freshmen Leading

Somehow, in both the Treblemakers and the Bellas, a freshman ended up leading after the original head of the group left or gave up. There were other upperclassmen available, so why didn't they end up in charge?

Even though there are so many problems, Pitch Perfect is still my favorite and probably always will be. I just think all these things are funny.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
