As the wonderful holiday of Thanksgiving comes up this week, we should all take a minute and reflect on some of the things we have to be thankful for this year.

1. Family

No matter what, your family is always there for you. You didn’t pick them and they didn’t pick you, but you’re stuck together and you love each other no matter what.

2. Dogs

Everyone can agree that dogs are life’s gift to us. They love us unconditionally and are always there to be man’s best friend, so this Thanksgiving, remember to give your dog a little holiday treat.

3. Joe Biden Memes

They are all over the internet right now and they are hilarious. If you don’t think these are funny, I question whether you’re a robot or have no soul.

4. Kermit and Dark Kermit Memes

Also all over the internet, also hilarious.

5. Coffee

It’s your everyday pick me up and you may sometimes wonder how you could live without it.

6. Bees

Yeah, you better be thankful for the bees because they provide us with a lot of the stuff that we consume, including coffee. #BringBacktheBees

7. Friends

Can’t forget about these guys, no matter what they can always manage to bring a smile to your face, or provide you with some much-needed company or advice.

8. Netflix

No matter whose account you use, it provides you with hours of entertainment and besides, how else are you supposed to binge watch your favorite show?

9. Emojis

How can we not be thankful for these little guys? They give us the ability to express emotions and thoughts without having to type the word out, because who would want to have to do that?

10. The food

Of course, we have to be thankful for this, no matter how you celebrate, who you celebrate with, or what you eat, you’re lucky to have it, not everyone does.

11. Yourself

Take a minute to be thankful for who you are. It took a lot of hard work to get where you are today, so be thankful that you are you.

Happy Thanksgiving!

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
