11 Things I Don't Thank My Hometown Friends Enough For

Even though we are hundreds of miles apart, you're still always there for me.

1. For helping me survive high school.

Honestly, without you all I probably would not have lasted a day in that godforsaken place. All of my best high school memories involve you. From the awkwardness that was freshman year, the utter mistakes that were sophomore and junior year, to finally being seniors and graduating, you were always there.

2. For movie nights.

Granted, they never really involve watching a movie, because we always end up talking for hours about everything that has gone on since we had our last movie night. Whether or not we watch a movie, you know that there is always enough snacks to feed an army. It's always an adventure walking down to the convenient store and grabbing different flavored cartons of Ben and Jerry's ice cream and passing them around once we get home. Almost all of our inside jokes have occurred at one movie night or another, and I wouldn't change that for anything.

3. For always being down for a spontaneous shopping spree.

All I have to say is my friends really know how to find a fantastic sale. Whether it be shopping for a purpose or just needing some serious retail therapy, you girls are ready at a moments notice. The best times are always spent in the changing room of Forever 21, trying on the most insane outfit we can find, just to laugh about it. Pretty sure the changing room attendants hate us for it, but, hey, it happens.

4. For beach days.

The first thing all of us are dying to do when we all get back from school for summer break is go on a beach trip. We all pile into someone's car, crank the music and jam the entire way to the beach. Sometimes the drive takes longer than anticipated if I am navigating, because you all know I can't follow the GPS correctly to save my life. Once we finally reach our destination, you know there are many photo shoots by the water's edge, just trying to get that one good bikini pic to spite the last boy who wronged us. These are the days where all of us can relax and forget whatever going on in our lives and just be at happy together.

5. For always being honest with me.

I know I can always count on you guys to give me the tough love that is sometimes necessary. I appreciate your opinions more than you will ever know. So even though I may give you a hard time, I always take your advice to heart. Whether it be an opinion on an outfit, or me asking for boy advice, you always give it to me straight up.

6. For Skype dates.

Even though they are few and far between, catching up with everyone via Skype is always fun. Sure, we keep up through texting and social media, but nothing is like getting to talk to my girls face to face. It's a great feeling when all of us are able to make time out of our busy lives at school, just for a twenty minute Skype sesh.

7. For always being there to listen to me vent.

You guys are honestly the best people to vent to. No matter what I am feeling, you girls are the first people I go to, to just talk it out. I'm sure it gets annoying after a while, just listening to me complain about the same things over and over, but you listen no matter what. You're always there to comfort me, give me advice, or to encourage me to get out there and fix the problem. You always know exactly what to say and I always feel one hundred times better after talking to you.

8. For Target runs.

For all the times we go to Target, we should probably own half the store by now. We never really go with the intention to actually buy anything, but somehow, after walking around the store twenty times, we manage to find something that we absolutely must have before we leave. Target has turned into our go to spot over the years, and some of our best conversations have occurred in its aisles.

9. For giving the best music/book suggestions.

Whenever I am in desperate need of a good read or a new artist to listen to, you guys got me covered. You send me list after list of options for me to choose from, and I usually end up loving whatever I pick. I know it's usually me asking, but it makes me so happy when I send you a song to listen to or a book to read and you text me back saying how much you love it.

10. For sticking with me through it all.

We have all had our ups and downs, that for sure. But you guys have never left my side. Through every heartbreak, bad decision, fight, and everything else in between, you girls have always been there with open arms. You have all seen me at my absolute worst and at my best, which is not something most people can say. You all deserve some sort of medal for putting up with me for as long as you have, and for that I can't say thank you enough.

11. For being my forever friends.

I can honestly say that if it weren't for you guys, I wouldn't be who I am today. All of you have had so much of an impact on my life, and I am forever thankful that you chose to be my friends. You all are my people, my squad, my support system, my rock. Even though we all are spread out now and only see each other on breaks, we have never been closer. I cherish the few months we get to spend together and look forward to seeing you again when we are apart. You people have seen every side of me and have never judged me. I can't picture my life without all of you in it. From day one, you all have been my ride or dies, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I love you guys so much and I am so grateful you all are not only my friends, but apart of my family.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
