11 Things That Sum Up New Zealand

I was extremely to visit the South Island of New Zealand for nine days, and I realized right away just how beautiful this country was. Here a few things you might see, do, or hear while in New Zealand.

1. Unreal landscapes

Seriously, this place has amazing scenery. There are mountains, rivers, and lakes everywhere. You'll look at everything in awe. You'll take a million photos and proudly post them with no filter.

2. Sweet As

This is a popular expression that means something like cool, awesome, or dope. Be sure to pronounce it like sweet az, not sweet ass, or you'll get lots of strange looks.

3. Kiwis

It doesn't have anything to do with the fruit. Rather, kiwi refers to a bird. New Zealanders are also referred to as kiwis.

4. Sheep

They are everywhere. And I do mean everywhere. You'll drive past fields with hundreds, if not thousands of them.

5. All Blacks

The New Zealand All Blacks is the national rugby team. They are world-renowned and the Kiwis have extreme pride for them. You'll see the logo just about everywhere.

6. Lord of the Rings

This is perfect for the LOTR fan. You can take tours and see many of the locations where Peter Jackson's famous series was filmed. I was lucky enough to do a horseback tour.

7. The calm temperament

Kiwis are so incredibly chill and down to earth. Many of the people that live in New Zealand are not natives, so you will meet people from all over and hear their life stories. Many people have moved there from other countries, simply because it is a great place to start over.

8. Extreme activities

New Zealand boasts many exciting activities, such as skydiving, bungee jumping, canyoning, and canyon swing. This is a perfect adrenaline rush. I myself went bungee jumping and canyoning. Commercialized bungee jumping actually began in New Zealand.

9. Small population

When driving through, you don't see a lot of people, but you do get to see the incredible views. It is similar in size to the UK, but New Zealand has a population of about 4 million, compared to the UK's population of 63 million.

10. Bats

Originally, the only native to New Zealand was a bat.

11. Fergburger

This is New Zealand's best burger chain. It is so popular that it often has multiple hours waits and lines well outside the door. Definitely worth trying.

If you ever get the chance to visit New Zealand, you won't be able to miss these.

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.

From sea to shining sea, the United States was uniquely positioned for an incredible Aurora Borealis display on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2024, going into Friday, Oct. 11.

It was the second time this year after an historic geomagnetic storm in May 2024. Those Northern Lights were visible in Europe and North America, just like this latest rendition.

To My Loving Boyfriend,

  • Thank you for all that you do for me
  • Thank you for working through disagreements with me
  • Thank you for always supporting me
  • I appreciate you more than words can express
  • You have helped me grow and become a better person
  • I can't wait to see where life takes us next
  • I promise to cherish every moment with you
  • Thank you for being my best friend and confidante
  • I love you and everything you do

To start off, here's something I don't say nearly enough: thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You do so much for me that I can't even put into words how much I appreciate everything you do - and have done - for me over the course of our relationship so far. While every couple has their fair share of tiffs and disagreements, thank you for getting through all of them with me and making us a better couple at the other end. With any argument, we don't just throw in the towel and say we're done, but we work towards a solution that puts us in a greater place each day. Thank you for always working with me and never giving up on us.

Because no one ever really leaves.

Ah, yes, good old Hauppauge. We are that town in the dead center of Long Island that barely anyone knows how to pronounce unless they're from the town itself or live in a nearby area. Hauppauge is home to people of all kinds. We always have new families joining the community but honestly, the majority of the town is filled with people who never leave (high school alumni) and elders who have raised their kids here. Around the town, there are some just some landmarks and places that only the people of Hauppauge will ever understand the importance or even the annoyance of.
