11 Things Makeup Addicts Are Tired Of Hearing

Chances are, I don't care how you feel about my makeup addiction.

1. "You don't need makeup."

Whether or not I "need" to wear makeup, it's something I enjoy doing. Trust me, I'm not spending all this time learning new techniques, and spending money on new products to try to impress someone who wouldn't know the difference between a smokey eye and a cut-crease.

2. "Makeup is false advertisement."

Honestly, I don't care if you see me with or without makeup on, I'm not ashamed of how I look either way. Makeup can be dramatic or just used to enhance one's natural beauty. No matter how I decide to wear makeup, it's really no one else's business.

3. "It's a waste of money."

This is like me telling you that spending money on your hobby is a waste. I wouldn't dare tell you that your love for golf, or whatever you enjoy, is a waste.

4. "You don't need more than one nude lipstick."

This one makes me laugh. Not all shades of nude are created equal. You have nude with pink undertones, nude with yellow undertones, darks, and lights. There are different shades of nude to compliment different skin tones and looks.

5. "Guys don't like girls who wear too much makeup."

Has anyone ever defined what amount is "too much"? Also, if my significant other or anyone for that matter has an issue with what I put on my face, they just aren't meant for me. It's that simple.

6. "You spend too much time on it."

Everyone has things that they spend a significant amount of time doing. For me, this just happens to be watching tutorials, reading beauty blogs, swatching new shades, or experimenting with new looks. Ultimately, what I do in my spare time really doesn't pertain to anyone except me.

7. "Why do you even need to be a platinum member at Ulta?"

Platinum perks are just something any makeup lover and loyal Ulta customer strive for. You receive special coupons and deals that aren't available to other customers. Plus, you get more points to redeem with purchases.

8. "Your makeup bag is bigger than your suitcase."

This gem was told to me on my last vacation by my mom. In my defense, it was a weekend trip, so I only needed one change of clothes anyways. But, no matter where I go, I never know what products I may need or want to use, so I just bring most of it with me. I'd rather be safe than sorry.

9. "High-end products are overpriced."

It's true when they say, "you get what you pay for." This is true with pretty much everything. High-end brands make quality products with better pigmentation and durability than drugstore brands. Don't get me wrong, I still purchase and love my drugstore products, but my higher end products typically feel and look better on my sensitive skin.

10. "That really isn't practical."

Just because I experiment with and create a look with crazy colors or looks, that doesn't mean I'm going to start using them on a daily basis. Just as with any hobby, I play around with makeup for the fun of it, not necessarily to be practical for daily wear.

11. "You look better without makeup."

As I stated in the first point, I do makeup because I enjoy it. Whether or not you think I look better with it, I have fun with it, and that's all that really matters at the end of the day. Do what makes you happy, and don't worry about what everyone else thinks.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
