11 Things I'm Thankful For

As the Thanksgiving holiday is right around the corner, I can't help but make a list of the things that I'm thankful for. While 2016 has been a hectic year, it has also been a successful year. Here are eleven things that I am thankful for.

1. Family. I know this one is cliche, but my family is what truly keeps me together. My mom and dad are always there for me, even when I don't want them to be. My brothers and sister-in-laws would bend over backwards to help me in need. My nieces and nephew will always make me smile. I can't imagine my life without them being by my side.

2. My Best Friends. Two of my roommates have become my best friends. I never knew what best friends were until these two girls came into my life. I couldn't be more grateful to have two strong females in my life to help me during the bad times.

3. My Boyfriend. My boyfriend and I have been dating for four years. I never get bored or sick of him. I feel as though I'm constantly learning something new whenever I'm with him. I can't imagine my life without him and I'm so grateful that he is here for me through thick and thin.

4. My Dog. My dog can annoy me sometimes, don't get me wrong. He snores so loud that you have to turn up the TV whenever you're watching it. However, my dog loves to snuggle and eat food up off the ground and I can't imagine my life without him.

5. Carbs. I know this seems like it would be sarcastic, but those who know me know that I love carbs. My five year old eating style requires a carb-heavy diet. I couldn't imagine my life without chicken fingers, fries, mac and cheese, or even grilled cheese.

6. Candles. There is nothing better than staying in on a rainy day, playing coffee house music, and lighting a candle. It makes your room smell nice and it helps relax the setting of the room.

7. Education. Unlike a lot of people, I really enjoy going to class and getting an education. I love being a student and I value the opportunity to have the privilege to attend college.

8. Cleaner. I am a very clean person. I dust at least twice a week. I am so thankful for cleaning products. Without them, my room would be dirty and I would not be happy at all.

9. My Internship. I am currently the media relations intern at a local store in Westerville. I am running their social media and helping with event planning. I am so grateful that I have received this opportunity this year.

10. Health. This year I have not been super healthy, but I was able to recover because of the healthcare I have. I'm so grateful that I have been able to recover.

11. My Sorority. I asked myself the other day, "what would I do without my sisters," and I almost started to cry. My sorority has done so much for me and I can't imagine not being a sister of Sigma Alpha Tau. I'm so grateful to have each and every member of the chapter in my life. I truly am blessed.

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.

To My Loving Boyfriend,

  • Thank you for all that you do for me
  • Thank you for working through disagreements with me
  • Thank you for always supporting me
  • I appreciate you more than words can express
  • You have helped me grow and become a better person
  • I can't wait to see where life takes us next
  • I promise to cherish every moment with you
  • Thank you for being my best friend and confidante
  • I love you and everything you do

To start off, here's something I don't say nearly enough: thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You do so much for me that I can't even put into words how much I appreciate everything you do - and have done - for me over the course of our relationship so far. While every couple has their fair share of tiffs and disagreements, thank you for getting through all of them with me and making us a better couple at the other end. With any argument, we don't just throw in the towel and say we're done, but we work towards a solution that puts us in a greater place each day. Thank you for always working with me and never giving up on us.

Ah, yes, good old Hauppauge. We are that town in the dead center of Long Island that barely anyone knows how to pronounce unless they're from the town itself or live in a nearby area. Hauppauge is home to people of all kinds. We always have new families joining the community but honestly, the majority of the town is filled with people who never leave (high school alumni) and elders who have raised their kids here. Around the town, there are some just some landmarks and places that only the people of Hauppauge will ever understand the importance or even the annoyance of.
