Being home for the holidays definitely has its benefits and here are some of my favorite things about being home for the holidays.

1. No school stress

A few weeks away from the stress of school is a greater gift than you would ever think.

2. My own bed

Every time I come home I forget how soft and comfortable my bed is compared to the rock that I sleep on at school

3. Pets

Playing, snuggling, and just being in the presence of my dogs makes me so much happier than being without them.

4. Excitement of the season

No matter what holiday you celebrate, you have to admit that the excitement of the season makes being home better. I love coming home and seeing our Christmas tree lit up in the corner of our living room.

5. Home cooked meals

It is always great to come home and have something that your school either messes up or never makes.

6. Parents/Siblings

I love driving back with my dad and then coming home to see my mom and give her the hug that I’ve been waiting weeks for. I always miss my sister when I’m away at school, so I love coming home and getting to spend time with her, and I love seeing my brother and his family.

7. Knowing the TV channels

At school, it is hard to remember which channels are which, usually the only channel remembered at school is the Food Network Channel.

8. Getting to sleep in

It is great getting to sleep in and not having to set an alarm to get up and go to class.

9. Wrapping gifts

My mom always has me finishing her wrapping, and I’m doing my own while everyone is still away at work or school, so no one has any idea what I got them for Christmas.

10. Shopping

Getting that last minute shopping in allows you to get out of the house and get a little retail therapy before the holidays.

11. Family

Of course seeing my family when I come home is great. Hearing everyone’s stories about what they did this year, and of course, I’m answering the questions that most college kids hear when they’re home, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
