While we make up a pretty small group on campus, one thing that's true about history majors is that we're really passionate about our major. Whether you're going into a career in law, teaching (!!), non-profits or research, if you're a history major, then you'll probably realize you relate to these eleven things more than you'd like to admit.
1. When someone asks us what our major is and tries to fake interest.
2. You get historical books for Christmas--and actually read them.
3. That feeling you get when you know some piece of obscure trivia that no one else did (or probably cared to know).
4. You have a favorite President and feel very strongly about why they're the best (and no, it’s not Lincoln, JFK, or Obama).
5. Your favorite shows are historical dramas and you live in constant fear of them getting cancelled.
6. You have convinced yourself (and anyone else who will listen) of absurd conspiracy theories.
7. You have seen National Treasure enough times to quote it line for line (and you’d be lying if you said you’re not still holding out for the third to come out).
8. You’d rather spend your Saturday in a museum than a mall.
9. You have a lot of dates (committed to memory).
10. Involuntarily cringing when someone brings up a historical event and gets the facts wrong.
11. Coffee is your best friend--honestly, how are you supposed to get through 100 pages on steel production during the Cold War without caffeine?
