In the weeks, months and maybe even years following your graduation you realize that you are slowly losing a part of your identity that has been there for almost as long as you can remember, being a student. It initially feels odd that books, classes, parties and clubs are not the hub of your existence anymore and as the time moves on it feels strange to think that any of it ever was. Many say that college years are the best years of your life and I realized that the ones following them can be the most transforming. Each day new realizations, good and bad, dawn upon as you settle into your new and permanent role as an adult and you often feel as if you’re muddling through life as an ex college student.

1. You are surprised at how bland and uneventful Thursday nights post college are.

2. Day drinking isn't really a thing.

3. You might have to move back home.

4. Being the token "hot mess" express becomes less endearing.

5. You don’t have a lot of grown up clothes.

6. It’s really hard to make new friends.

7. You don’t magically become a responsible adult overnight

and that is fine.

8. You may spend a lot of time comparing yourself to your peers — Don't.

9. You actually have to schedule time for fun.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
