Anyone that owns a fitbit understands how controlling that little plastic band which hardly ever leaves your wrist can be. The extent to which fitbit addicts go in order to win challenges and achieve their daily goals, while most of the time surpassing that initial goal, can be quite comical. Personally, I dedicated an entire day over spring break to stepping; my first goal being to attain the badge for 50,000 steps in a single day. I ended up taking 65,000 steps because once I hit 50,000 and realized that I still had time left in the day, I couldn't stop myself from reaching the next three badge levels. Here are 13 attitudes, situations, and thoughts that every fitbit addict can relate to.
1. Always taking the stairs.
Why waste a perfect opportunity to increase your total steps while simultaneously adding floors to the day's count by taking the elevator?
2. Challenges can get intense.
Whether you're in a Workweek Hustle with family members, a Daily Showdown with friends, or that random Weekend Warrior initiated by a friend of a friend every single challenge is taken seriously.
3. Achieving your daily goal.
A day is only considered complete once your fitbit has vibrated joyously after meeting your goal. You got there, so you can sit down now.
4. A distinctive wrist tan line is normal.
This strip of white is hardly ever noticed since you only take the fitbit off while in the shower or to charge it. (If you really want to limit the amount of time your wrist is naked, charge the fitbit while you take a shower.)
5. Being obsessed with checking your heart rate even when you are not exercising.
Isn't it intriguing what factors contribute to the changes in your heart rate?
6. Your virtual badge collection is your pride and joy.
Each of those colorful, cleverly captioned badges is a representation of your hard work determination put into fruition.
7. Taking the longest route to get some place just to get extra steps.
8. Forgetting to wear your fitbit for one day will ruin the entire week.
Is there even a point of doing anything if your fitbit isn't on?
9. You have established a walking path in your house that will give you an extra boost of steps if you are in a crunch to add more to your daily total.
We've all walked aimlessly walked in circles around the house or jogged in place while watching television.
10. Realizing how irregular your sleep schedule truly is.
Forever wondering if this exhaustion is due to my poor sleeping pattern or the fact that I hit 40,000 steps yesterday.
11. Opening the app to check on your daily stats more than you check your email.
It is imperative to stay updated on the status of the current fitbit challenge by checking who's at the top of the leader board relentlessly.
12. You thoroughly enjoy taunting your fitbit friends, but if they taunt you in return, the weekly challenge rises to an entirely new level of competitiveness.
13. Getting excited every time a new fitbit design or color comes out.
If I wear two fitbits, will I get double the steps?
