To all my fellow curly haired humans; I understand your struggle, because the genetic roulette wheel hath dealt me a very similar one. We are the commodores of conditioner, the heralds of humidity, the fighters of frizziness. But for all of its pain-in-the-butt qualities, curly hair is beautiful. It's a love-hate relationship but ultimately, we can learn to rock it and love our natural locks.

1. Oh, the humidity.

When it's hot and humid out, your hair will know pretty much before anything else. It can grow to twice its normal size and frizziness is out of control. Even if you throw it up in a hairstyle those cute little baby hairs framing your face still make you look like Simba.

2. Frizziness.

Even without humidity, curly hair still frizzes apart into tiny annoying individual hairs that refuse to fall together into a cohesive, neat layer. Ultimately, you do a a lot of flipping around of your hair, trying to cover it up and hope for the best.

3. Ponytail or pom-pom?

Sometimes when you want a cute ponytail, your hair is too frizzy or unruly that day and it looks like you could have a tiny creature resting on your head. But when you're successful you feel super accomplished

4. Hats are not your friend.

As cute as beanies and baseball caps are, a lot of the time, you just fell kind of trapped in them or like your hair is being forced at some weird angle, not to mention the hat hair and how frizzy or matted your hair feels when you take a hat off. Sometimes though you can totally rock it and sometimes your friends are awesome enough to sew you a hat perfect for curly hair.

5. What will my hair look like when I wake up?

Sometimes sleeping on your curls can crush them and if you don't have time to shower, you feel like you have to hide your hair in a bun or something otherwise you feel like a hot mess. And not to mention the--you guesed it--FRIZ-ZIE-NESS..

6. The endless hunt for the right hair products.

The quest for the conditioner, shampoo, etc. that will make your hair just the way you want it is never-ending. You look up online tutorials and curly hair Pinterest boards and remember something about coconut and another thing about keratin and eventually just pick one and pray to the curly haired gods it works because there are an absurd amount of products promising the same ambitious thing.

7. "You should totally straighten your hair!"

I. Do. Not. Want. To. And okay, yes this is just me personally but the only times I've straighten my hair, someone else did it for me and it took forever. Plus, I just didn't like it. It didn't look like me and I'm just uncomfortable and frustrated when people keep telling me to do something I've made clear I don't want to do. But hey, if you're a curly haired gal who likes straightening your hair--more power to you--it's your hair, so do whatever you wish with it--you go girl.

8. Air Drying.

Applying heat to curly hair via hair straighteners, blow dryers etc, tend to make you look like Simba (again) as seen above. And though your hair looks nice when you let it air dry, air drying takes an eternity and a half because when you have curly hair you also tend to have extremely thick hair.

9. "Go brush your hair"

Not only does brushing your curly hair make it no longer curly but rather a frizzy mess, but it can hurt because it can tangle easily. Plus you probably have so much hair that it feels like you're not getting anywhere and you feel like you look worse than when you started.

10. Can you (k)not?

Lots and lots of tangles and knots can form amongst your lovely curls and you spend a lot of time combing them out and looking for the proper detangling spray to prevent damage and whatnot. Also, when you say (not without pride) that you just got a big knot out of your hair there may be a person or two who say "Isn't it always a giant knot?" (Yes I have had this happen to me.)

11. Ultimately you love your curly hair!

No matter what, whether you style it every day, put it in an up do daily or just wear it down, your curls are gorgeous and a total gift. You can totally rock it!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
