We all have bad days, and sometimes the only thing we look forward to is them turning into the next tomorrow. Whether you just failed an exam or you just got dumped by your boyfriend, here are some tips on making your day a little better. The only thing NOT to do is sit and sulk about how bad your day actually is.

1. Go shopping and treat yourself to something materialistic.

A little shopping never hurt anyone; keep in mind, I said a little. The best way to get something bad off your mind is to go get something new for yourself. This is 99% effective for a bad day.

2. Clean your room or the space around you.

It might be hard to actually get up and clean the filth hole that you may live in, but once you do you'll feel much better. Instead of looking around and seeing old dishes and dirty clothes all over the place, you'll have a clean room or house, and it will make you feel refreshed. Plus the actual act of cleaning distracts you!

3. Take a little time to call or text your parents.

Parents usually help with EVERYTHING. When you call them about something you might be having a hard time with, you'll probably feel a lot better after. Parents are usually right and always know whats best for you, so pick up the phone and call them!

4. Talk to your friends about what's upsetting you.

Your friends are the best people to go to for venting and advice because they understand you, know your life, and help you feel better. Friends can be everything when you're having a bad day.

5. Eat something healthy. Or not.

No doubt your favorite snack will make you feel a lot better, but if you choose something healthy it will you probably make your body feel better and give you energy! If you're already having a bad day, do you really want to feel like crap after you eat a tub of ice cream with brownies?

6. Turn on Netflix and get comfortable.

If you're a lazy person, nothing is better than lying in a warm cozy bed with your favorite show on, especially when you don't want to think about anything else. Enough said.

7. Go to a coffee shop and get in your zone of homework.

You can't beat getting in the zone and being productive while doing it. Something about a coffee shop just makes you more focused, especially when you've got your favorite drink or snack next to you. It's a yummy, peaceful way to distract yourself and get stuff done at the same time.

8. Go to the gym and work out.

If you want to take out any anger or energy from your bad day, go to the gym and put it towards something! Actually leaving the house and getting to the gym is hard, but once you get there you'll be motivated to work!

9. Write it down or write about it.

Now, I know this might sound super vintage and lame, but writing something down on paper and getting it out can make you feel a lot better. No, you don't have to be that girl with a diary, but having a journal or writing things down occasionally when you don't want to talk about them gives your brain the same effect.

10. Get in the comfiest clothes you have and just relax.

Whatever you do to relax, do it. Take a hot bath, get in pajamas, or lay in bed and just stop stressing out. It's as simple as that.

11. Know that tomorrow is a new day and life goes on.

Whatever you're dealing with today, you will have a new mindset tomorrow. Eventually you will be happy and have a great day to make up for it.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."
