Although it may seem like a walk in the park, babysitting can be anything but easy. Big kids watching littler, less mature kids? Sure, what could go wrong. Every babysitter has some horror story to tell about their experiences, and there are certain common factors that just seem to be universal.

1. When the kids act angelic until the parents leave

Why have you turned on me?!

2. Trying to prepare a meal that the parents carefully left out for you

Cooking was never part of the deal.

3. Threatening to count to three when the kids disobey

"Timmy if you don't put your pants back on by the time I count to three you'll be sorry!"

4. Giving into more TV time in order to get peace and quiet

One more episode couldn't hurt...

5. Having to pick the kids up from school/an activity and feeling like a mature adult

Heck, motherhood looks good on me.

6. Spending more time doting on the families pets than the children

The best day of my life was when the family I babysit got a new puppy.

7. Getting to go to children's movies you secretly are dying to watch but would never go to alone

Score! Their parents want me to take them to see The Good Dinosaur! Um, I mean, how lame...

8. Having to answer awkward questions

10 year old: Is Santa Claus real? Where do babies come from? How much do you get paid to watch me?

9. Reading to the kids before bed and getting thrown into all the feels because you read the same books

Junie B. Jones will forever be in my heart

10. Raiding the families snack drawers after the kids fall asleep

Free food is always a good thing

11. Realizing that while kids are awesome and all, you don't want them anytime soon.

Amen.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
