11 Best Things About Spring Weather

Right around this time every year, the weather all of a sudden drastically jumps. Instead of puffy winter jackets, four layers of clothes and hats and scarves, we're suddenly wearing shorts, flip flops, T-shirts sunglasses and need sunscreen to walk to and from class every day. And although some days it jumps back down to colder weather with some rain, the thought that the amount of nice days will be much higher than not so nice ones, makes everyone's day a little better.

With spring just around the corner, the thoughts of warm weather bring spring fever and the thought that summer is only half a semester away, leads to an overall happier and better mood around campus. So here are 11 reasons why spring and warm weather is the absolute best.

1. It makes everyone so much happier.

Scientifically proven or not, I can say with 100% certainty that the start of good weather makes everyone feel a little bit brighter no matter what's going on in other parts of their life.

2. Better clothes.

Picking out a pair of shorts and a tank top is so much easier and so much more fun than trying to find four layers and a pair of pants and socks that all look good together. Also if you're feeling super lazy -- workout clothes and dresses are much more weather appropriate this time of year too.

3. Instead of crying about your 10-page paper inside, you can do it outside.

A little fresh air never hurt your brain or your thinking, and you could find some new inspiration instead of your wall.

4. The pool and the beach may not be open just yet, but that doesn't mean there aren't other fun outside activities.

Pick up games of corn-hole, Frisbee, soccer and more are super common around this time of year, and super fun too.

5. You'll be tanner, and I can't really find any complaints with that.

6. Darty season.

7. Spring break.

8. Warm weather gives way to tons of flowers and blooms that all around make campus look way prettier (and make for some fun Instagrams).

9. Warm weather season also brings the start of music festival season.

From now until fall, festivals such as Ultra, Coachella, Gov. Ball and EDC, EZOO, Firefly and Lollapalooza, will take over your Twitters, Instagrams and Facebooks. Not only that, but it's a great way to have some summer fun and here all your favorite artists at once!

10. If you're a huge baseball fan like me, then when the weather starts to get warm is probably your favorite time of the year because it means that baseball season.

But other big sporting events such as March Madness (#Gocats), The Masters and many more also come around during this time of year.

11. The start of warm weather and spring can only mean one thing -- summer is just a few weeks away.

And who doesn't love the thought of that?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
