11 Thank You's I Have For The University Of Wisconsin-La Crosse

Although I've only completed one full semester at UW-La Crosse, I undoubtedly believe it's the best UW school of all. The school may be situated in a town slightly larger than 50,000 people, yet the campus offers the feeling of a close knit community, and you're sure to see a friendly face almost anywhere you look. So, to UWL, thank you for being you.

1. Thank you for your scenic location.

The bluffs are able to be seen from almost any point on the campus and the football stadium even overlooks Grandad's Bluff itself.

2. Thank you for being welcoming.

Thank you for having numerous orientation days and tours available to make incoming freshmen feel at home as they transition to college.

3. Thank you for including textbook costs in our tuition.

Thank you for only making us spend the occasional $50 on a lab manual rather than $150 on a math textbook.

4. Thank you for community bathrooms.

Sharing a bathroom with 30 other people and wearing flip flops in the shower may not seem too appealing, but it sure is a good way to meet the people on your floor.

5. Thank you for the Whitney Center.

Not necessarily a thank you for the food that we eat here, but thank you for making me appreciate a home cooked meal when I'm on break. To be honest, I kind of missed Whitney food when I was home.

6. Thank you for introducing me to my best friends.

It was a miracle we all found each other so early on, in the weirdest ways possible.

7. Thank you for the small campus.

We may complain about our "long" walk to class, but the longest walk may only be 10 minutes.

8. Thank you for the small class sizes.

Class sizes at UWL are comparable to those of high school size which makes it super easy to make friends and be known by your professors.

9. Thank you for being a safe campus.

Thank you for allowing students to feel safe walking around campus regardless of the time of day.

10. Thank you for being within walking distance to downtown.

Thank you for being so close to a plethora of restaurants, shops, and endless options of nightlife.

11. Thank you for being the place I call home.

Thank you for being my home away from home. La Crosse, you have my heart.

Bob's Burgers
Adult Swim

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious. From Louise's crazy antics to Tina's deadpan self-confidence, whether they are planning ways to take over school or craft better burgers, the Belchers know how to have fun. They may not be anywhere close to organized or put together, but they do offer up some wise words once and awhile.

We're in college, none of us actually have anything together. In fact, not having anything together is one of our biggest stressors. However, there's a few little things that we do ever so often that actually make us feel like we have our lives together.

1. Making yourself dinner

And no this does not include ramen or Annie's Mac & Cheese. Making a decent meal for yourself is one of the most adult things you can do living on campus. And the food is much better than it would be at the dining hall.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.
