11 Struggles of Living The Sick life

My life is a constant sick coaster.

We all know someone. They constantly are taking cold medicine, sniffling, curled up in bed with a couch. They live the sick life. It's a curse some of us have where we are constantly getting sick with one thing or another. One day it's a sinus infection. Another day a respiratory infection. And another day it's a crippling migraine. While we might seem week for always being sick, we live quite the struggling life.

1. The taste of cold medicine is nothing to you.

We've taken this stuff so many times that, at this point, we hardly notice the strong taste that it holds. We can also pour ourselves the perfect dose of medicine without even checking the bottle of the line. Trust me, we've done this before.

2. You cut out tissues.

Nope, no more. We use so many that buying them time and time again has grown way too expensive and, instead, we just use plain old toilet paper. It's always in the house and you never seem to run out. Plus, the new tissues just seem a little too lotion-y, don't you think?

3. Sometimes, we forget what it's like to breathe normally.

My nose is stuffy so frequently that half the time I don't even know what it's like to inhale. Or smell.

4. Making long term plans is a no-no.

There's a 10/10 chance that we'll end up sick right before we're supposed to go because the universe and our own bodies hate us.

5. We don't get much done.

Between the constant colds and ailments, most of our time is spent curled up in bed or on a couch and we don't feel like moving. For anything.

6. We're running out of TV shows to watch.

Since we sit on the couch for most of our lives, the list of Netflix shows we have not watched is starting to dwindle significantly. Soon, we'll have to start re-watching everything.

7. We don't really go out.

Go out with friends at night? Nope. Either that's a sure way to get sick or we're already sick.

8. The moment someone says they're getting sick/are sick, you know your time has come.

Every time someone near me has muttered those words of "I think I'm getting sick" or "I have a little cold," I kiss my comfort goodbye because I know I'm the next victim.

9. The doctors know us by first name. And not just because it's on the chart.

When you get infections all the time, you go to the doctor. And when you go to the doctor for all those infections, they start to know who you are.

10. We know exactly the medicine combo that works for us.

Having perfected it over the years, we know what'll make us better. Don't ever try to mess with it.

11. We've accepted our fate.

We know that this is now the life we lead and we're done fighting it. We didn't choose the sick life, the sick life choose us.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
