When it rains, it pours... It's so easy to get stressed out and we all need to find better ways of dealing with our stress! With school getting ready to start, now is the time to find out what works best for us so here are some stress relievers that work for my friends and me. Maybe some of them will even work for you, too!

1. Exercise

Not necessarily the most fun type of stress relief but definitely one of the most effective. I always feel better after a workout. I can breathe and know it's pushing me further towards my goal of living a healthy lifestyle.

2. Long hot shower

Perfect for after that workout! They say it takes 20 minutes to wash away all the stress and anxiety of the day so here is your excuse for that 20 minute shower we all probably take anyway.

3. Chocolate

Chocolate is life! It is my go-to, which is a problem... But sometimes we need a little chocolate to make us feel better! Chocolate ice cream is probably the best form of chocolate ever.

4. Friends

Whether you're just hanging out or working out, it's better with friends! Especially those that you can tell everything to and you aren't afraid of crying in front of 'cause we all know crying can be a great stress reliever also.

5. Crying

Not my favorite by any means but like I said, sometimes it is all that works. Put in a sad movie or read a sad book and just bawl. It just somehow makes you feel better.

6. Family

Today I am watching my niece and the smile on her face puts one in mine every time. This was perfect timing because I needed this. It works like a dream!

7. Art

Any kind really just something to express your self where you don't necessarily have to spell it out. My preferred medium has and always will be clay. There is nothing better than sitting at the wheel and thinking about nothing but the clay! I am so ready to get back in that studio!

8. Sleep

You have to be careful with his one because some people will get worried if you sleep too much but getting a good nights rest will make you feel better in the morning!

9. Work

Sometimes work is an escape for me. There are great people to talk to when we are slow and when we are busy we just keep hustling leaving me with no time to worry about my problems.

10. Music

It has to be the right song though. I prefer "Break Free" by Of Mice and Men. It's the perfect song to scream along with and just let all of your anxiety go with the melody. Best to do on a car ride so no one can hear you!

11. Wine

Yes, wine... No, I do not have a problem! Wine with friends is the best. I'm always giggly and happy with wine and I sleep so much better after a glass or two. I'm not saying to get drunk; I'm saying let loose.

Just breathe and remember everything is going to be OK! One way or another, it will all work out for the best!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
