11 Songs that Will Get You Pumped for Christmas

I don't know what it is about this year, but no one seems to really be in the Christmas spirit. I don't know if it's the extremely and disappointingly warm temperatures, the remorse and recuperation from finals week, or just the fact that we're getting older. Whatever the case may be, I don't like it. Christmas time only happens once a year, and I do not want anyone to feel like this Christmas season was a waste.

So, I have compiled a list of Christmas songs that is guaranteed to make you feel like a kid at Christmas again. If you start to feel like a Scrooge, just add these sings into a playlist and listen. You'll immediately want to grab your hot chocolate and Christmas jammies. Enjoy!

1. "Feliz Navidad" by Jose Feliciano

Seriously no other song gets me as hyped for Christmas as this one. This is also the only Christmas song that makes me crave queso instead of hot chocolate, but I'm totally OK with that.

2. "Last Christmas" by Ariana Grande

OK Ariana, I see you being all merry and bright. I appreciate it.

3. "Mary Did You Know?" by Pentatonix

First of all, it is so mind-blowing that there are no instruments in this song. Second, this song will make you feel all of the Christmas feels.

4. "Drummer Boy" by Justin Bieber ft. Busta Rhymes

I'm not even mad that the Biebs took this classic Christmas carol and added some raps into it. It has some pretty nice beats that I'm sure the real little drummer boy would have added if it were a thing.

5. "Do You Hear What I Hear" by Carrie Underwood

The song of angels sung by a woman with the voice of an angel.

6. "I'll Be Home For Christmas" by Rascal Flatts

The harmonies in this song speak to me, and I know they will speak to you too.

7. "Extraordinary Merry Christmas" by the Glee Cast

I'm a total Gleek and I would not lie to you. Glee has some of the best and cheery Christmas music and this song is possibly the cheeriest.

8. "Where Are You Christmas?" by Faith Hill

This song will steal your heart just like the Grinch stole Christmas.

9. "When Christmas Comes to Town" from The Polar Express

This song will remind you of a better time. A time when you were a child and had no worries or sadness during this time of year.

10. "Carol of the Bells/ Sing We Now of Christmas" by Barlow Girl

This is possibly one of the best Christmas mash-ups in the history of Christmas mash-ups.

11. "Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays" by 'N Sync

A classic. This will unleash your inner 90's teenage girl and I don't feel like that's a bad thing.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
