11 Small Things You Probably Miss About Quinnipiac

Now that we've been on summer break for a couple of weeks, most of us are already thinking about being back at school. We miss our college friends, our favorite hangout spots, our campus...the list goes on and on. However, this list is about the small things at Quinnipiac that you probably haven't even thought about missing. Be prepared to miss your home away from home even more...

1. The smell of freshly cut grass.

Sure we all probably miss that beautiful quad, but what about the simple smell of freshly cut grass? Especially considering it's basically freshly cut every single day...

2. Your favorite library spot.

After finals week you probably never wanted to spend another second in the library, but wouldn't it be nice to have your favorite spot available to you now?

3. Your dorm bed.

While it's nice to be home in your own bed, you do spend the majority of your time in your dorm room bed during your college years, so you probably find yourself missing it at least just a bit..

4. Java John.

While Java John's probably not the first person you think about missing at QU, you have to admit he's always in a good mood!

5. The candy in the cafeteria.

While no one probably misses the majority of Chartwell's food, the candy bar in the cafe is a hard loss over the summer. It's nice to have when you just want a couple of pieces of something sweet, plus we all know it's easier to be able to scoop whatever you want into a white paper bag than it is to commit to one kind of candy in a store.

6. The gym.

While the gym may not be anyone's favorite spot on campus, you have to admit that it's nice to have free access to a gym, since your options in the summertime are an expensive membership or braving the heat to get in a workout.

7. The shuttles.

The shuttles aren't probably the first thing you miss, especially since we've all probably feared for our lives at least a handful of times while taking them. But, you have to admit that it's nice to have the shuttle to take into New Haven for a night out so you don't have to worry about driving, parking, etc.

8. The bookstore.

While school is in session, the bookstore isn't probably somewhere that you think about on a daily basis. But, it's definitely nice to have access to it when you need some (overpriced) shampoo and don't feel like running to Walmart or when you need a last minute birthday gift for just about anyone.

9. Mondo's.

Again, don't worry: I'm not suggesting that there's much to miss about Chartwell's. But it is nice to have Mondo's open until late on weekends when you're hungry and don't feel like going anywhere.

10. Your QCard.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who has handed over my QCard to pay at a shop while I'm home or the only one who has tried to use it to get into my house. You have to admit that it's kind of nice to have everything in one place. Unless, of course, you lose it...then that's a whole other story.

11. Hamden.

Sure, Hamden's probably not the first place you picture when you think of a college town. But, it definitely has its jewels. Ray & Mike's, Domino's delivery, Wentworth's, Droogie's, Chipotle & Moe's so close to each other...the list really does go on and on.

So, if you didn't already miss QU a ton, do you now? I know I do...

I'm sure, like me, many of you received lots of gift cards over the holidays. After working retail seasonally, here are a few tips that I learned in order to make the employees at your favorite store just a little happier and not want to charge you extra on your purchase for being awful. Here are some times when you should be nicer to retail workers than you actually are!

5 Untold Struggles Of The Short Friend

I'm the Short Friend. I've been the Short Friend since about the seventh grade. I'm the one who stands in the front of the photos, gets made fun of for their height, and still shops in the kids department.

This article is not for the Almost Short Friends, i.e. the 5'3" and 5'4" Friends. No no, this is for the Actually Short Friends, i.e. the Barely Scraping 5'1" and shorter Short Friends.

11 Things All Call Center Workers Can Empathize With Better Than Anyone
Youtube

This semester I started my journey as a member of my University's Alumni Outreach Team. This means a lot of things, but primarily it means that I get to make phone calls to parents and alumni two nights a week to update contact information, collect things like business cards and volunteer hours, and even ask for money.
