Going back to school isn't an exciting thing -- except for the 11 reasons below. We all have certain parts we love of the fall semester starting. Maybe it's not school related, but it sure is weather and activity driven!

1. You slightly start to look forward to having to go back to classes because that means you’ll have something else to do besides working 24/7.

It's sad, but true. Except for that point where working and classes become your entire life -- how did this happen?

2. You get excited about back to school shopping.

Especially those school supplies! I need a new agenda, new pencils, new book bag. I need it all!

3. Getting a new agenda/planner is an exciting task and you want to keep it perfect forever.

Two months later: scribbles everywhere, rips in the cover, papers torn, etc.

4. You’re still willing to talk about the upcoming school year with family.

Why not brag about your success of surviving another academic year without losing your cool?

5. You're excited to see your college friends.

It has only been three months since you have seen them, but everything is always better with your friends.

6. You're counting down the days until football season.

Fall weather, dark colors, Halloween, pumpkin spice and bonfires. How could life get any better?

7. The welcoming of chilly weather.

It has been a long short, hot summer -- I'm ready for 60 to 70 degree weather and sweaters.

8. You're looking forward to getting a refund check.

You can try to deny it, but you know it's true. Refund checks are a glorious blessing for broke college students. This means rents paid, books are bought, groceries are stocked, and you're slowly dying inside watching your debt go up, but that's OK! At least you're good in the now.

9. You're looking forward to not being around family 24/7.

Family -- can't live with them, can't live without them. OK, we can live with them, we just prefer not to.

10. You know that once the semester actually starts you'll regret getting excited to go back.

Why did I ever think this was a good idea? Twenty-one credit hours, three extra-curricular activities -- what was I thinking?

11. Once the semester starts you’ll be on the way to finishing another year towards your degree!

It's about damn time! I'm out of here!

College can be fun and stressful, but the above 11 points are some reasons why we all get excited over a new year. We can talk about the realities once it hit the middle of the fall semester and the honeymoon phase is over. I'm sure my mind will have changed, at that point.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
