You know what they say, dogs are man's best friend. But, to people with Obsessive Dog Disorder (O.D.D.), they are much more than that.
Not sure if you have ODD? Check out these signs that tell you that you just might have it.
1. Your dog is part of your family and you treat it as such
Your dog is your homie, your partner in crime, your ride or die. Your dog has always been there for you and he's never let you down.
The only thing missing is a chair at the dinner table so Foo Foo can eat right next to you.
2. You talk to your dog, and they understand you
You've had a long day and you really need to vent. So you and your pup pop a squat on the couch and thoroughly discuss what went on throughout your days.
Your venting usually consists of "Work sucked, I've got a backache like you wouldn't believe, and I've got to update you on office gossip."
And your dog simply licks and listens and barks on occasion, "Oh, no she didn't!"
3. You sleep with your dog
You're used to spooning with humans but you've got to adjust your usual positions when your pooch wants to cuddle all night. And you'll do it, because you want that extra warmth. Too bad you have to choose between either that or extra room in the bed..
4. When you come home, the first thing you do is greet your dog
"HI MY BABY, WERE YOU A GOOD DOGGY TODAY? DID YOU HAVE A GOOD DAY? I MISSED YOU!"
But on those days when you come home to the trash can knocked over and there's crap everywhere, you put on your mean face, but then you see your doggy's face and just...melt.
5. You constantly take selfies with your dog
Dog lover who take selfies with your puppies, I've got something that will change your life. Taking selfies with your squirmy pup has never been easier. Your profile pic will now be perfect. You're welcome.
6. You post those selfies with a paragraph of how perfect your dog is
Time to think of a sentimental caption to your perfect selfie and words cannot describe just how much you love your dog, how much they mean to you, and how pretty or handsome they are.
7. You have to introduce yourself to other dogs
If you see another dog on the street, you need to first, shake their paw. Then you must know its name, date of birth, breed, astrological sign, and favorite treats. This is all necessary.
Imagine if you stumbled upon this beauty on the street:
You've got to find out about this little booger's life story.
8. Then you explain to your dog why you smell like another dog
"Baby, I'm..I'm so sorry. I had a moment of weakness, I had to let him sniff me. It would've been rude not to."
Then they hit you with this face:
You have to be apologetic because petting another dog is the equivalent to cheating on your dog. And it's hard for dogs to forgive that offense.
But you know they will, because after you change your clothes, your dog will totally forget the incident and will love you again.
9. You've got photos of your dog in a frame or in your family photo albums
Normal families just have framed photos of their children and other family members on their walls. But, for people with ODD, their dogs have their own special frames (and they're probably 8x10).
10. You constantly want to visit pet stores and bring home more dogs
Every time you pass a Petsmart or Petco, you resist the urge to go visit the puppies. Because you know your significant other won't let you bring home another dog. Even though they know you really, really want to.
It does hurt to go in and visit the puppies, they all look so sad and you want to make them happy again. You talk to them and tell them how sorry you are because you cannot take them home.
All of a sudden 'In the Arms of an Angel' by Sara McLaughlin pops into your head and you rush out of the store because now you've burst into tears and remember why your significant other tried to keep you out of there.
11. Your dog is your best friend
They're the only one who won't break your heart, they're the only one who will lick away your tears, and they're the only one who won't talk back. Your dog is always down to cuddle, and will eat like a pig with you. Your dog loves playing with you and your dog will always been down for Netflix and chill.
Your dog impacts your life, your dog is your life.
