Growing up my town had a population of 1,200 people where everyone knew you and your business. I wouldn't have traded my expereince growing up for the world. Here are the 11 signs you grew up in a small town.

1. You graduated with less than 30 people.


2. You're used to a 30 minute drive to Walmart

3. It takes you three times as long to run errands because you run into people you know.

4. You give directions based on landmarks and buildings

5. Most Fridays nights consisted of backroading

6. Everyone knows your name, address, and family tree

7. Traffic was caused by a tractor

8. You were encouraged to bring prom dates from other schools so there would actually be a prom.

9. You always tell people you are from the nearest city.

10. There were no stoplights in town, just stop signs.

11. You wouldn't change your small town experience for the world.

Ah, yes, good old Hauppauge. We are that town in the dead center of Long Island that barely anyone knows how to pronounce unless they're from the town itself or live in a nearby area. Hauppauge is home to people of all kinds. We always have new families joining the community but honestly, the majority of the town is filled with people who never leave (high school alumni) and elders who have raised their kids here.
