11 Signs That You've Found "The One"

11 Signs That You've Found "The One"

Ah yes, "the one". That person who changed your life for the better. The one who is your shoulder to cry on, wipes your tears, and makes you smile. The one who makes you wonder how the heck you made it through some days without them at your side. It's pretty magical if you ask me; how there's that one person for each of us, waiting out there until our paths meet one day (or until you finally say "yes" after years of knowing each other). But let's step away a little from the fairy tale parts of a relationship and look at some of the simple everyday moments that make "the one" so special.

1. You can shove your face with food without the fear of being judged.

No more first-date etiquette that consisted of a small side salad and a glass of water. You can order two pizzas, chicken wings, cheesy garlic bread sticks, and a huge cookie, down it all with a liter a soda, and be the happiest, most care-free couple in the whole world.

2. Sending "hints" becomes a daily task.

We girls like to think that we're subtle when we casually send you a picture of something we want. Prom-posals, engagement rings, wedding themes, vacation ideas, we send it all. And we never ever worry about bothering you, we just hope you get the hint.

3. You take care of each other when you're sick.

I had the cold one day and was surprised when my boyfriend got up and threw away my mound of tissues for me. But that's what couples do. No matter if it's a stomach bug or one too many drinks, you help them to the bathroom, make some chicken noodle soup, and yes, throw away their pile of tissues.

4. You agree to disagree.

Couples fight, and that's normal. But when you both can respect each other's opinions enough to put your differences aside and still love each other, that's a true relationship.

5. Mornings together are never "glamorous", and that's okay.

Waking up with morning breath, messy hair, dried drool on your chin, and a strong lack of deodorant doesn't stop you from smiling at each other, saying "I love you", and snuggling closer until you fall back asleep.

6. You spend just as much time with their family as you do with them.

And you can probably be a little crazy with them, too. Just getting out of work? I'll just go to your house and hang out with your sisters until you get home. We'll probably be in their room singing along to Pandora.

7. You're independent from each other.

While the lovey dovey texts throughout the day are greatly appreciated, you each have your own things to do and if you don't get the chance to really talk during the day, it's okay. Whether it's some guy time or a girls' night out, you both enjoy your space. You don't need to be by each other's side every second, and as long as you can spend time together and catch up before you go to bed, you're a happy camper.

8. Throw away the makeup; you don't need it.

Aside from a few special events or date nights, dressing up and looking nice isn't needed anymore. You can go out for ice cream in sweatpants and his sweatshirt and he'll still think you're the most beautiful girl in the world. And for guys, you can show up with a little extra scruff and an old t-shirt and she'll still want to spend every minute she can with you.

9. "Hey honey, can you pick me up some razors?"

Running to the local drugstore for all those essentials isn't a burden or an embarrassment. Plus you learn a lot about items you probably aren't too familiar with, like my boyfriend got to look through the thousands of different brands of women's razors and I got to search through the shelves of men's deodorant.

10. Every car ride is a live concert.

Headbanging to Five Finger Death Punch on our way home? Yes, I've done it.

11. Everyday tasks become fun when you do them together.

Washing dishes, cooking breakfast, cleaning up the yard, working on your car, any chore you dread doing instantly changes into a chore that's doable when you're together. They're the best helping hand you could ask for (even if they really aren't helping too much).

The movies and TV shows love to show us the knight in shining armor, riding in to carry his princess off to a elegant ball to dance the night away. What they don't show us about true love are the simple moments that happen everyday. All those times that you looked at your loved one while they were focused on something else and thought about how lucky you are. When you find "the one", the little moments become your favorite memories.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
