We all know that an impressive internship is the essential must to landing that notable full-time offer. Internships have the power to connect you with the network of individuals, give you the experience of a lifetime, and, most importantly, break-or-break you with a particular company. The eagerness of starting your career mixed with anxiety and nerves, makes for a roller-coaster of emotions within the first week. The mix of feelings leads us into a variety of different circumstances, both good and bad.
Whether on either end of the spectrum, there is no doubt that we stand out as the intern in the office.
1. You are way too overdressed on the first day.
2. You stand by the sensor for minutes waiting for your badge to check-in.
3. You walk aimlessly around the office multiple times a day trying to find the bathroom… passing that same guy every time.
4. You sit in a full-time staff’s seat and they pretend that it does not bother them.
5. You are nervous to participate in the “Casual Friday” because you think it is an initiation trick that will make you stand-out.
6. You receive an email asking for “a favor” and return with coffee 15 minutes later.
7. You are caught Snapchatting friends the view from your downtown office.
8. You lead everyone to believe you understand training but you really just want to cry.
9. You would not be caught dead using your phone.
10. You IM your fellow interns about happy hour all day.
11. You are confident you are going to rock this opportunity.
