"I like being a strong, independent woman, and to be honest, I was never afraid to be on my own" -- Dido Armstrong

I absolutely love being independent, the idea of being able to take care of myself and have my own life. It's okay to be strong, fearless and motivated.

1. You take care of yourself.

Not because you have to, but because you want to. You enjoy booking your own appointments, running errands and making life decisions without having to rely on others.

2. You treat yourself.

Because you work hard and deserve it. You're not afraid to swipe and enjoy after a long days work.

3. You don't neglect your career.

You know the importance of your career and make it one of your top priorities. At times you may feel underestimated, which immediately puts you in a sort of, "Prove them wrong," mode and might come off a little intimidating. That's okay! You know your goals and strive for success.

4. You don't like being told what to do.

You're pretty stubborn, Because you're more of a 'do first, ask permission later' type of person. Since your usually right about things, you just want to get stuff done instead of wasting time.

5. You don't mind paying for a date.

Some people might question your love life, especially at family events where you're constantly getting asked if you're seeing anyone. The thing is, your standards are very high and you feel more comfortable just not paying much attention to the matter. However, when a man does manage to get your attention and get you to agree to go out on a date, you totally don't mind helping with the bill because you take pride in being self-sufficient.

6. You don't rise to the bait of a hater.

Along your climb, you will encounter hundreds of people who will try to bring you down. Whether it's your independent woman persona, your career success, or even just you being happy, someone will always be jealous and you know that. It even humors you a little to hear the latest story on you.

7. Whenever you want to do something, you have no issue doing it alone.

Spur of the moment adventures? Spontaneous last minute visits to the newest coffee shop in town? Shopping, traveling and trips to art galleries? You'll tackle all those things solo and whatever else you fancy!

8. You have amazing friends.

Your fierce and ambitious personality allows you to pick only the best humans. You don't need constant contact with them, but you know that they are always there through thick and thin.

9. You do *need* your alone time.

Alone time is essential for you. After hours of dealing with people, your precious alone time is a must! It's a need, not a want.

10. You're not afraid of voicing your opinion.

You don't hesitate to state the facts and let your opinion be known to the general public. This makes you slightly more intimidating because some people don't know how to handle your bluntness.

11. Above all else, you're always proud that you've learned to love yourself.

You know what you've been through and you are your biggest supporter. You have a very big heart (that you like to protect, of course). You pat yourself on the back and pick yourself up after falling down because you know no one else will. You acknowledge your accomplishments and take pride in what you do. You are an unstoppable force.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
