As we approach the end of the semester, it's getting closer and closer to finals week. Just like any life consuming events, such as Christmas or a wedding, there are clear signs that the dreaded week is coming. This time of the year does not come with decorations or festive songs. There aren't massive parties or the exchanging of gifts. As finals slowly creep up on us, college life starts to change, shifting to accommodate the event. Here are some signs that finals are coming soon to your campus:

1. Sleep slowly is becoming less relevant.

Why go to bed when you could stay up and study more? It's just wasted time if you ask me. Just stay up!

2. Textbooks are suddenly appearing.

You may not have used it all year, but once finals start approaching it's time to turn that paper weight into a B!

3. You witness at least one breakdown every day.

But hey, that's alright, because sometimes the person having the breakdown is going to be you. There is no shame in that.

4. Crying becomes more socially acceptable.

Bringing a package of tissues with you will never be a waste. Somewhere out there, someone is crying.

5. You have something due every day.

Presentations? Tests? Quizzes? Essays? You name it, you have them due. This week. All of them.

6. The library becomes packed.

Do people think the library has the secret power to help them pass? Because it doesn't.

7. You hear, "I need to get a ___ to pass this class".

Calculating your grade in every class, over and over again, becomes a daily occurrence. Or a twice daily occurrence.

8. Real meals become more rare.

It's more likely that you'll grab a bagel or a bag of chips and call it good. Besides, makes it easier to bring to the library.

9. Breaks = Anxiety.

Trying to take a study break will just make you anxious and feel as though you are wasting your very precious time.

10. Studying = Anxiety.

However, studying will cause you just as much anxiety, because you are finally realizing that you don't know anything.

11. Finals week arrives.

It comes quickly, and you aren't prepared, but don't worry because soon enough it will be all over and you will get to take a break from the chaos.

Finals are stressful, and the week before is even more so, but don't worry. You're going to get through this one just like you got through last semester, and before you know it you will be going home. So go get started on those notecards, drink a cup of coffee, and give it your best. You're going to do great!

It is that time of year again. Christmastime. It is one of my favorite seasons for a myriad of reasons. Here are just a few reasons why I love Christmas. This list is in no order of importance.

1. The Christmas decorations

I am that person who will decorate directly after Thanksgiving is over. This year, my roommates and I put the tree up in our apartment before we even left for Thanksgiving break. It is a great stress reliever for me to just sit in my living room and work on the huge amount of work I have before the semester is over.

Mistakes are something we all make, no matter how old we get. Most of the time, the mistakes we made are little and sometimes due to something out of our control. Yet, there are mistakes that are bigger than others. Personally, I have mistakes that I wish I could go back and undo. Here they are:

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?
