Coffee addiction sneaks up on you; it starts out small, like taking a sip of your friend's morning cup o' joe drowned in sugar and half-and-half. However, before you know it, you find yourself feeling empty without the warmth of a travel mug filled with rich, deliciously brewed coffee inside of it. (Don't mind me, just drooling over here.) If you or a friend are unsure whether or not you've succumbed to the power of coffee, here are a few symptoms that might confirm it for you.

1. It's the first thing you think of when you wake up in the morning.

2. You have trouble dealing with people before you've had your first coffee.

3. You experience withdrawal symptoms if you go awhile without having it.

4. You've bought yourself a personal Keurig/coffee maker so you can drink it whenever you like.

5. You absolutely refuse to drink decaf. Decaf is for the weak.

6. You're obsessed with latte art (and may have failed in trying to do it yourself).

7. You can't function without it.

8. You experience a mental breakdown if there's no coffee left.

9. You're pretty certain your body is mainly composed of coffee.

10. You're personally offended when someone says they don't like coffee.

11. You relate to every single one of these symptoms.

Friendship. It's defined as the state of being attached to another person by feelings of affection or personal regard, but what really is friendship? Is it that occasional hallway talk with that one person who always manages to cheer you up? Is it that relationship you have with someone where they can be gone for a long period of time, but when they come back, it's like they never left? Is it spending every waking hour with someone, and knowing every detail about their life? Is it the relationship that's filled with fighting, but filled with even more resolution? I've learned that it's all of these things, and every friendship is different. It's a beautifully dysfunctional mess that should always be cherished and never be taken for granted.
