I don't know about you, but I love "Sex and the City." I just finished watching all six seasons of the show (and shamelessly finished them very quickly). While this show has many negative articles about it, I really do think this show has encouraged me to stick up for myself and never let go of my best friends, my people, my soulmates. So here's 11 quotes out of a thousand good ones to inspire you!
1. "So many roads, so many detours, so many choices, so many mistakes. As we drive along this road called life, occasionally a girl will find herself a little lost - and when that happens I guess she has to let go of the coulda, shoulda, woulda - buckle up, and just keep going."
In life, there are so many decisions you have to make. Where will I go to college? What will I major in? Who will I be friends with? What career will I have? Where will I live? Will I get married? How about kids? While we attempt to answer these questions our entire life, we must remember that you may not always end up where you thought you would be... but hey, keep on moving!
2. "He's just not that into you, so move on."
This very key episode is one I constantly will find myself looking back on. Every time a guy comes up with a lame excuse or seems to be ghosting you, don't always give him the benefit of the doubt. He could just not be that into you. So if he is? Move on, he definitely doesn't see the amazing person you are and doesn't deserve you.
3. "A relationship is like couture - if it doesn't fit perfectly, it's a disaster."
Sometimes we really try to make a relationship work, friendship or romantic. However, we always have to remember, if it doesn't fit, it never will.
4. "I think I'm in love with him, and I'm terrified he's gonna leave me 'cause I'm not perfect."
Carrie expertly expresses all of the insecurity women have once a relationship begins. We are so obsessed over perfection and we need to just slow down and appreciate the person we truly are.
5. "I revealed too much too soon. I was emotionally slutty."
In relationships, it's easy to get caught up in the moment. However, always remember not to talk about how many kids you want and what their names are going to be while on a first date...it scares them.
6."It's true. I've been dating since I was 15, I'm exhausted. Where is he?"
I'm exhausted, Charlotte is exhausted, all single women over a certain age are exhausted. Where is he? And how come he is taking so darn long?!
7. "Yeah, I am harsh. I'm also demanding, stubborn, self-sufficient and always right."
Samantha to me has been such an amazing character. Sure she's a little sex-crazed, but that's who she is! She knows her strengths and her weaknesses and doesn't care what anyone things. Her confidence is astounding, and I think we all wish we were a bit more like her.
8. "I need someone who is looking for love. Real love. Ridiculous... inconvenient... consuming... can't live without each other love..."
In this moment, Carrie captivated me. sometimes what we want gets squashed into miniature size to let another person shine brighter. This moment truly said, "Hey! I'm finally taking my life back. I know what I want, and I will not rest until I find that all-consuming love!"
9. "Maybe some women aren't meant to be tamed. Maybe they need to run free, until they find someone just as wild to run with."
Don't settle for something that compromises who you truly are. You need to search and search until you can run wild with the man of your dreams and truly embrace the amazingness from within.
10. "Don't forget to fall in love with yourself first"
Back in high school, I was dating in hopes of filling a void. Filling the empty space that I was supposed to fill with my self-love. When my last boyfriend from high school broke up with me, I swear he was quoting Carrie Bradshaw. He said, "How can I love someone who can't love herself?" This has stuck with me to this day. As women, it is crucial to fall in love with ourselves to the point that we know what we deserve, and we won't stop until we get it.
11. "We made a deal ages ago. Men, babies, it doesn't matter. We're soulmates."
No explanation needed other than your friends are your real soulmates.
