11 Resolutions We Had For 2016

Going into 2016 no one knew the unimaginable pain it would be. If we are being real, 2016 has been a terrible year and almost no one is sad to see it go. We had very high hopes for you 2016 and you let us down. We made resolutions for the year including: getting better grades, getting in shape, drinking more water, and more. Here are some of the biggest disappointments of 2016:

Resolution number 1: Get in shape.

We started out the year wanting to get in shape. We stuck to our workout plans for a month or two:

and then...

Resolution number 2: I will get good grades all year.

Beginning...

End...

Resolution number 3: Get into a relationship.

How we wanted relationships to be...

What relationships were actually like this year...

Resolution number 4: Travel to new exotic places.

What we meant…

Where we went…

Resolution number 5: Make the world a better place.

What we expected:

What we got:

Resolution number 6: Don’t drink as much alcohol.

This one didnt take very long to break.. A week in and we were all like:

Resolution number 7: Feel better about myself.

Beginning: * Speaks to self in mirror* “You is kind. You is smart. You is important.”

Now:

Resolution number 8: Going to bed early and getting a good nights sleep.

Beginning of the year..

End:

Resolution number 9: Start saving money.

Beginning of the year:

End…

Resolution number 10: Learn a new language.

How I thought it would be:

How it ended up...

Resolution number 11: Don’t care what people think about me.

Beginning...

End…

*Someone speaking to you* “Your hair is a little messed up.”

Well 2016, you are ending soon and we are not sorry to see you go. I would love to say it was a pleasure but as I so nicely pointed out in the above failed resolutions you did nothing for me.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
