Growing up with a sister was undoubtedly one of the the best things that's ever happened to me. I couldn't imagine my life without all of our inside jokes, movie binges and wild nights out. She's helped shape me into the person I am today and is truly my better half.

Here's why there will never be a better friend than your sister.

1. She's seen you at your worst and she's seen you at your best.

And she still loves you anyway. She's been right next to you during your awkward middle-school stage, your first heartbreak and your first job promotion. She'll always be there to cheer you on or cheer you up.

2. She understands all of your family drama.

She's right there at all of the family dinners and holiday get-togethers. You can confide in her and she'll know exactly what you're talking about because she's going through all of it, too.

3. You basically have two closets (sometimes).

Even though it makes your blood boil when you see her wearing your favorite sweater without your permission, you know you've done it to her a million times, too. When one of you buys a new skirt, you both win because you know you'll be borrowing it the first chance you get.

4. She's known you longer than anyone else.

Friends come and go. Sisters have not only been with you since birth, but they'll always be with you. She knows your quirks, your habits and what makes you laugh because she's been with you from the start.

5. She'll tell you the truth when you're about to commit a fashion sin.

She's the most honest person you know, and you find yourself asking for her opinion before every time you're about to buy something. She has your best interest at heart and would never let you step out into the world wearing something that didn't look amazing on you.

6. She's not afraid to tell you when you're about to make a stupid decision.

Sometimes she doesn't care about hurting your feelings, and she only wants what's best for you. If your sister thinks it's a bad idea, then it probably is.

7. You're hardwired to defend each other.

I will always have my sister's back, and I know she'll always have mine too. No matter the situation either of us are in, I know I can count on her to back me up or be my bodyguard if need be. Whether it be against our parents, a mean girl at a party or a rude ex-boyfriend, it'll always be us verses them.

8. You'll always have her shoulder to lean on.

It doesn't matter what time of the day it is, I know that if I needed my sister for any reason, then she'd drop what she was doing for me. She's always there to talk or cry with you as you drown your sorrows in a pint of Ben & Jerry's ice cream.

9. You have a secret language.

All I have to do is look at my sister a certain way, and she'll know exactly what I'm thinking and she'll usually be thinking the same thing.

10. You have the same values.

You were both raised the same way and by the same people. Despite your differences, you live by the same moral code. Neither of you are perfect and you inspire each other to be better people.

11. No matter how much time you spend apart, nothing ever changes.

Whether it be because of college, a new job or just going down different paths, you and your sister don't always get to see each other. Every time you reunite, you're back to your old shenanigans, laughs and reminiscing. You wouldn't have it any other way.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
