What once was a small startup company has turned into a game changer for young enthusiasts everywhere; conversations are being had that may have gone untouched, thanks to the help of this innovative platform. Odyssey currently has 1,000 writing communities across the nation, and is still expanding to untouched territories. Is your school a part of the Odyssey community? Or is your school not yet on Odyssey's radar? Either way, you should place "joining an Odyssey community" at the top of your priority list.

1. You've got the power!

Odyssey is designed in a bottom-up model. This means that ideas begin at the writers instead of being assigned by managers. Writers choose topics they deem necessary, important and worthy.

2. Creativity is key.

Odyssey isn't just an opportunity, it's an outlet. Take time to get your creative juices flowing through the article writing process! Soon normal, day-to-day occurrences will turn into stellar article topics!

3. Your mom will be so proud!

Mothers love to brag about their children. Become a published writer, and your dear momma is sure to be calling all her gal pals...and she will like every single article on Facebook.

4. Rockstar potential.

Employers love to see a well rounded resume. Being a professionally published writer? You've just earned yourself an interview.

5. Gifs, gifs and more gifs.

You will soon become very aware of the power of a well-timed gif. You can be funny. You can be ironic. You can reference "Why The Grinch Stole Christmas" any day of the year!

6. Push yourself.

Writing weekly articles allows you to stretch yourself, and helps you grow as an individual. Maybe you want to be a broadcaster, so you focus on current events, giving them a twist. Maybe you have a passion for health and fitness, so you share that passion through the world wide web. Or maybe you just love to make people laugh, so you continue to stock up on puns. Whatever you love, Odyssey will help you grow, and learn how to love it even more.

7. You will be proud of your team.

When your team is kicking butt, slaying the social media game, and talking about the hard topics, your heart will swell with joy. Soon, your Facebook page will be full of everyone's articles...because they are just too good to go unshared.

8. Meet rad folks.

Meeting fellow world changers? Sounds like a sweet gig.

9. Did someone say, internship?

Oh, and call up that career services center you have on campus, because you could receive internship credit for all of your work! You can get internship credit for having a blast? Yes, yes you can.

10. Did someone say, New York internship?

If you really go for it, you could become a New York Odyssey intern for the summer! This means more learning, growing, influencing, and meeting more rad guys and gals in the New York City office!

11. Culture.

Odyssey is all about culture. It realizes that communities are unique, with stories to be told. Giving those communities an opportunity to let their voice be heard, from people within that community, creates good vibes and a new, conversational culture.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
