Meeting new friends at college can be nerve racking. Scary even. You're in a whole new place with thousands of people that you've never seen before in your entire life. Then, all of a sudden, your lifeline comes through. Your upperclassman friend that you were sad to see leave at the end of their senior year walks into your dorm room and all of your fears melt away. God bless upperclassmen friends for these 11 reasons....
1. Cafeteria hacks.
They open up a whole new world of food possibilities that you never would have thought about. Without these, you'd get sick of school's cafeteria food pretty quickly.
2. Access to a car.
From joyrides to mandatory grocery store trips to midnight Baker's breakfast runs having a car, and a friend who drives it, is handy to have around.
3. Dos and don'ts of college.
They can tell you how to walk the walk and talk the talk of college and how to avoid walking around with "freshman" written all over your forehead.
4. Professor suggestions.
They've experienced the ups and downs of certain professors from their freshman year, so they can make a suggestion or two on who to take and who to avoid.
5. Classes to take.
Along with professors, upperclassmen know which classes to suggest that won't kill your workload and leave you having a mental breakdown at 1:30am during the second week of school.
6. Cheap textbooks.
Since they've had the classes that you are probably going to end up taking, they are happy to sell you their (barely) used textbooks for cheap.
7. Mentoring.
Whether it's help with homework management, a shoulder to cry on, or someone to rant to, they are always there. They get it.
8. Reassurance that you'll survive.
They are living, breathing, proof that you will survive the first year of college. You may have a few scrapes and bruises, but you will survive.
9. A place to go besides the freshman dorm.
They offer a whole new place to hang out besides the freshman dorm, library, or the cafeteria - the upperclassmen dorms!
10. Meeting more upperclassmen friends.

With hanging out in the upperclassmen dorms comes more upperclassmen friends, and by the looks of this article you can never have enough of those.
11. They help you come up with these 11 reasons.
Enough said.
The start of freshman year, and even days after that, would be pretty rough without some upperclassmen friends. So, keep them around, and if you don't already have some then you better start looking. (Mine are NOT up for grabs.)
