12 Reasons Why Villanova Basketball Is The Best

With the start of March Madness right around the corner and the Big East Tournament starting this week, I figured it was only right that I write an article about my beloved Villanova Wildcats. (@Jay Wright thanks for doing whatever you do to make us a Top Five Team.) From the games, to the players, to the general spirit that the team has, Villanova basketball is probably one of the best things that has happened to me (after being a Villanova student). Though there have been some bad times (@Second Round Knockouts), the good overshadow them by a long-shot. So here are some of the best things about Villanova basketball (only some because really I could go on forever). And to the Wildcats, thanks for being the best of the best; there's no other Nation I'd want to be apart of other than Nova Nation.

1. This past season, our rankings were fantastic.

Even at our lowest point, we were still doing pretty well. But at our best? We were number one.

2. Villanova Basketball always keeps it exciting too.

We haven't had a huge history of upsets, but when we do have one-it's always a memorable one. Sorry: Duke (2009) Louisville (2013), Syracuse (2014) and the most important win but the one I'm least sorry about: Georgetown (1985)

3. The Wildcats also have a pretty impressive list of accomplishments.

They've been to the NCAA Tournament 35 times-the 8th highest in NCAA History, won 2 Big East titles, and have been to the Final Four four times.

4. Not only do the Wildcats have a pretty impressive resume, but they also have a pretty impressive coach who's even better dressed and makes the team all the better.

(My favorite game is the 'What Tie Is Jay Wearing Today' Game). Side note: he also does soap commercials when he's not too busy making our Wildcats as great as they are.

5. Although we don't make all of our threes (Strongly recommending that players have to make three's before they're allowed to eat at a dining hall), we do make a lot of dunks.

And when we do, it's pretty exciting.

6. But sometimes we make our three's. And then, it's even more exciting.

7. Our Bench is probably the best in country, and they always put on a good show.

Thanks for doing you, BenchMob.

8. One of the best things about Nova Basketball is its student section.

It's crazy and rowdy and all sorts of fun, and being one of the top student sections in the country makes it all the more exciting and all the more reason this team is so great.

9. Not only do we love our team, but our team loves us straight back.

On campus, team members are friendly and approachable, and on game days, their run through the student section and the fight song at the end make our team even better than they already are.

10. Speaking of players, we have some of the very best.

Thanks for all that you do, @Archie, @Ochefu, @ Hart, @Brunson, @Jenkins @Henry Lowe (couldn't help myself); just to name a few.

11. Not only does our season always go out with a bang, but it starts with a bang too.

Villanova basketball gets everyone pumped up with the annual Hoops Mania, and that's just another reason why Villanova is so great.

12. Last but not least, the reason that Villanova Basketball is one of the best is because they play with heart, with spirit and they play to win, and there's no other team I'd root for more than this one.

On the Upper East Side, Blair Waldorf is an icon. She's what every girl aspires to be. She's beautiful, confident, and can handle any obstacle that life throws at her. Sure, she may just be a television character. But for me, she's a role model and theres a lot that can be learned from Queen B.

We Heart It

Over the past decade, television has undergone a very crucial transition: the incorporation of female lead characters. Since it's a known fact that girls actually do run the world (Beyonce said so herself), it's time for the leading ladies of the small screen to get some credit. Without these characters, women would still be sitting in the background of our favorite shows. These women are not only trailblazers for female empowerment, but role models for women worldwide. With that, here are 15 of the smartest, sassiest ladies gracing our screens that remind us that women do, indeed, rule:
