The finals rematch we anxiously hoped for is underway. The Cleveland Cavaliers and LeBron James are facing a dominant Golden State Warriors team led by Steph Curry, and people all over the nation are tuned in. While the match-up is intense and the competitors are some of the best in the NBA, here are a few reasons why the Golden State Warriors will beat the Cleveland Cavaliers.
1. They won last year.
They know what it takes to beat the Cavs. Last season, Golden State handled them easily, winning the series four games to two.
2. They have the NBA Coach of the Year.
Steve Kerr had another successful season at the helm winning this award, even though assistant coach Luke Walton coached almost half of the season starting 39-4.
3. Kerr has finals experience as both a player and a coach.
Kerr led the Warriors to the title last season and has five rings as a player.
4. Steph Curry.
After winning MVP last year, it is hard to put into words what Curry has done on the court this season. He repeated as league MVP and made over 400 3's. Yes, 400.
5. Klay Thompson and Draymond Green.
Curry aside, they have two of the best players in the league in Green and Thompson. If Curry was not a real life video game character, Thompson would be the best shooter in the league and Green has proven to be a star.
6. Electric home crowd.
Oracle Arena is one of the most electric venues in sports.
7. They have a strong bench.
Aside from their starters, they have a deep bench with the likes of Andre Iguodala, Shaun Livingston and Festus Ezeli.
8. They had the best regular season in NBA history.
They went 73-9. To put that into perspective, the Philadelphia 76ers won 10 games all year.
9. They already won Game 1.
The Warriors took Game 1 even though Steph Curry and Thompson had awful games.
10. No lead is safe.
With the Splash Brothers, they can be down 10 and come back in two minutes.
11. Again, Curry.
Curry's pure dominance this season makes it hard to believe he won't come out firing in Games 2 and 3. You can never count Chef out.
Don't take my word for it, but I envision another NBA Championship coming out of the Bay Area.
