1. If someone doesn’t have a Facebook we automatically are concerned if they are still alive or if they are even a real person.
You hear a name, or you’re partners with someone in a class who you don’t know, you’re generally curious what this person looks like, what they do on weekends, who they were in high school. Facebook tells you all of this through pictures, statuses and whatever else people decide to post on their not so private profiles. If you don’t have a Facebook we are concerned for your life or about to call Catfish for our own episode trying to solve the mystery of the person without a Facebook.
2. So our family members know we are doing ok in school (or at least so they know we are having fun).
I think my mom posts at least three statuses a day and a few pictures in between; she is very prominent on the Facebook world. Facebook is her forte and it is her way to check up on me and make sure I’m dressing appropriately going out and that I’m not ruining my life through stupid postings on social medias. She is the gatekeeper of what gets posted on the Internet, because if you’re not afraid of your future employer seeing you being a fool then you should be at least afraid of your mother seeing it.
3. Uploading multiple pictures at once isn’t a crime like it is on Instagram.
People lose followers on Instagram for posting multiple photos a day, unless they are both very different and awesome. Instagram is a weird world, but Facebook you can post whatever you want whenever you want and no one judges you anymore. Have a picture from every single person at the Christmas party; post them all, it is totally acceptable here.
4. So relationships can be defined (if it isn’t FBO, what is it?).
The big thing in middle school was to ask your friends if their relationship was FBO (Facebook official). If it wasn’t FBO it wasn’t real and he probably wasn’t the one. He’s just not that into you if he doesn’t want to make it official on Facebook.
5. Invites to important events.
No one does a mass text or even older, mailing invites through the mail. Everything is done via Facebook and being able to decline or accept with the click of a button is too easy not to.
6. Organization groups.
Facebook is a super easy way to contact multiple people at once without having to have phone numbers or email. Super great for our Greek organizations, because a post can reach members within seconds.
7. Reading the amazing articles from The Odyssey.
It’s cool to see your friends/peers get their writings published. Don’t forget to share their articles in support ;)
8. Funny videos.
Who doesn’t love a good funny video?
9. Stalking people.
The big reason most of us have our Facebook still; I mean I won’t lie. I love to see what my friends who I don’t talk to anymore are doing and how school is going for them. Sometime stalking goes so far though that I end up on someone’s page I have no idea who they are but I’m envying their hair and style, don’t lie you’ve been here too.
10. Thoughts that are over 140 characters.
Twitter you can only say so much. Facebook is a free space to write whatever you want to say, whenever.
11. Current event articles.
It’s been pretty popular for us to know what is going around in the world around us, who knew? Most of the articles are fake; but the ones that aren’t are the ones keeping us up to date in our new adult worlds.
