11 Reasons Why Minivans Are Awesome

So much room for activities!

Like many other first-time drivers, I inherited the family minivan when I got my license. However, I was probably unlike some in that I was ecstatic to drive a minivan. I decked my car out with some fuzzy dice and a solid CD collection (for my pre-aux cord model), and I named it the Swagger Wagon. After many late night Wawa runs and good times had, here are 11 reasons why minivans are awesome.

1. There is so much space.

I was one of the first to get a license among my friends, and it was pretty handy to have a minivan when it came to carpooling. We carpooled to prom, to senior week and to a bunch of other events. My friends love the Swagger Wagon as much as I do.

2. When it's full, it's a party.

Like I said, there is a lot of space. When every seat in the minivan is full, there's a lot of people in the car. There's nothing better than driving around with the music up and the windows down with a car full of your friends.

3. When it's just you, it's a party.

If you're like me, and you like to listen to your music way too loudly, sometimes driving by yourself can be just as fun. The minivan has speakers in the front and back, so it's like driving with a surround system.

4. You get to rock that mom aesthetic.

There's no denying that the minivan has a very "mom" vibe, but you've got to work with what you have. I make sure all my "kids" have their seatbelts on before we cruise, but I'm not a regular mom. I'm a cool mom.

5. You never run out of cup holders.

From memory, I can tell you my minivan has at least 11 cup holders. That's more than one cup per person! Need I say more?

6. It's high up.

You can figuratively and literally look down upon all of the little cars that drive by you. It's tall enough to make you feel confident, but not obnoxiously high up. Behold the power of the minivan.

7. Sliding doors.

Now I know they aren't as cool as butterfly doors, but sliding doors are still pretty cool.

8. DVD Players.

I know that not every minivan has a DVD player, but a lot of them do, and it's pretty cool. When you get tired of listening to music on a long drive, you can always put on your favorite movie.

9. If you can drive a minivan, you can drive almost anything.

Minivans are pretty easy to drive, but they're definitely long. If you learn to drive in a minivan, chances are every other car will be pretty easy to park.

10. They're made for road trips.

Minivans are the ideal car for a road trip. You can fit everyone in one car, there's enough space for everyone to be comfortable, you could potentially sleep in it and you'll never run out of cup holders. What more could you want?

11. Minivan swag is still swag.

Cool is a pretty subjective word. Like anything else, if you think driving a minivan is cool, it definitely is.

When I came to college and I mentioned that I drove a minivan, some of my friends said that I was the “minivan type.” I still don’t know what that means, but I will forever embrace the minivan lifestyle.

If I have learned one thing in my lifetime, it is that friends are a privilege. No one is required to give you their company and yet there is some sort of shared connection that keeps you together. And from that friendship, you may even find yourself lucky enough to have a few more friends, thus forming a group. Here are just a few signs that prove your current friend group is the ultimate friend group.

When it comes to television, there’s very few sets of on-screen siblings that a lot of us can relate to. Only those who have grown up with siblings knows what it feels like to fight, prank, and love a sibling. Ross and Monica Geller were definitely overbearing and overshared some things through the series of "Friends," but they captured perfectly what real siblings feel in real life. Some of their antics were funny, some were a little weird but all of them are completely relatable to brothers and sisters everywhere.

Every kid in college and/or high school dreams of summer the moment they walk through the door on the first day back in September. It becomes harder and harder to focus in classes and while doing assignments as the days get closer. The winter has been lagging, the days are short and dark, and no one is quite themselves due to lack of energy and sunlight. Let's face it: life is ten times better in the summertime.
