11 Reasons Why I Love The Olympics

The Summer Olympics is the ultimate competition that occurs every 4 years. During this time, over 200 countries compete in a multitude of different sports. The best part of the Olympics is cheering your country on in sports that you love or that you rarely get a chance to watch such as handball, judo, or synchronized swimming.

Here are 11 reasons why I love the Olympics.

1. The Opening Ceremony

This ceremony allows the world to see what the Host country is about. It gathers a little bit of the dancing, art, music and history of the country and condenses it into an hour show.

2. The Parade of Nations

Here you see all of the teams from each country. Each country has a designated flag bearer to show their country off.

3. The Team Outfits

4. The Athletes

Whether they are your crush or inspiration everyone has their favorite athlete. Seeing the athletes can motivate you in a sport that you do. Knowing their story and seeing their determination is bound to make anyone become a fan.

5. Watching all of the sports you wouldn't normally see.

Even if you usually don't watch sports, you are bound to find something you like on the Olympics. We all wish that sports like handball, ping pong, Rhythmic gymnastics and water polo had more television coverage.

6. Enjoying your favorite athletes from different teams play together in sports like basketball and soccer.

7. Cheering on athletes that you have a connection to.

Seeing someone from your hometown or your school makes you want to watch and cheer them on.

9. Watching commercials with all of the athletes.

10. Seeing medals won and history made.

11. Cheering for the crowd favorite even if they aren't from your country.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
